For those of you who saw the fun in this, thanks. That's all I meant- silly names given to mixed breeds, mutts if you will. I wasn't thinking of "designer breeds" per se.
No one meant to personally insult you or anything. You just inadvertently touched on something that's a pretty sore subject here at Chaz ... one that's been discussed here MANY times before. You did ask for opinions and got them, nobody claimed or even implied that you were personally doing anything wrong or were wrong in asking the question. Some people just don't like the whole idea of made-up names. ::shrug::
The "cutesy" made-up names are silly ... but that's not the reason it's a sore subject here.
It's much more the lack of health testing, people jumping on the bandwagon to create "new breeds" when they know nothing about breeding dogs, charging ridiculous prices for what IS a mixed breed dog, people jumping into breeding mixed dogs and marketing them as anything other than what they are ... and only in hopes of making big profits with little concern for the dogs, unscrupulous people claiming these are are legitimate "new breeds", creating fancy-sounding organization names to "register" these "new" breeds and making people think those wholly-created organizations are recognized in any way, claiming "hybrid vigor" when the truth is that it can just as easily go the other way ... with any individual puppy inheriting health problems or undesirable traits from *both* breeds, etc., etc.
In short, it's a whole lot of deception and false advertising. Unfortunately, the "cutesy" made-up names are an integral part of all that bad stuff.
