Yeah, so.
On Saturday, I lost my mom's best friend, my "second mom", to cancer. She's been there our entire lives - she and her husband lived just in the next block down. She changed my brother's and I's diapers, we spent many a hot day swimming in her pool, she and my mom were inseperable, and when my mom was sick and dying of cancer, Mel was there almost every day helping us with her care (she was a nurse).
She found out on the 26th that she had cancer, and was dead by the 4th. I found out on the 2nd, and by the third she was no longer lucid, and I couldn't go to say goodbye.
So that's been bothering me all week.
Yesterday my passenger rear tire went flat. I could see the puncture and it was in the sidewall. I have AWD, which means I need a whole new set of tires. Great. I put the spare on and hope it will last me until Friday, since today was loaded with work, wake, then more work.
Wishful thinking.
Go to the first shift and the wake in Matt's car, rush home to change, switch cars and head out to second shift at work. On the way... boom. Blowout. Awesome.
Call for a tow, get it to my tire place just in time before closing to spend way too much on a good set of tires and get them out on. Thankfully my axle and everything else seem okay.
Tomorrow's the funeral. I have to work immediately afterwards, because my co-worker is in Detroit. I'm overwhelmed and having trouble dealing with everything.
Sigh.
Cookies for reading, etc.
