When people hear of Buddy and his "ordeals" it's often that we hear, "It's amazing you still have him" or "It's awesome that you are doing all of this for him" or just yesterday, "you are doing a great thing taking on a dog like Buddy."
While these comments are appreciated and hold value to my heart... I ask myself .... was there ever any other option? And the answer? NO.
Dogs are NOT disposable. You don't get a dog and then find out he's sick and then take him back or get rid of him. He is a living being.
From the moment I signed that contrat, he was MINE. And that meant, from that point on, that he was MY dog, MY responsibility!
For better, for worse, my name is on that contract, he is my dog and that means that every time he has demodex mites, every time he gets an infection, every time he injures himself, every time he gets sick, I lay down my checkbook on the counter because it is my duty! He is MY dog.
He became a part of my very being the moment he jumped into my arms. You don't just dump family.. or let family get sick and do nothing about it. You fight for family.
Family is not NOT disposable. Therefore, neither is my dog!
/vent, rant, whatever you want to call it
