My heart goes out to you Gempress. Your posts have always been my favorites and I too, feel like I know Zeus and Voodoo even though we've never met. I hope everything works out.

I'm curious though, how do you think Zeus will handle Voodoo being gone? I know dogs can get depressed when their companion is gone. Would you get another playmate for Zeus? Just curious.
You know . . . strange synchonicity . . . maybe Virgo would make a good companion for Zeus?

Something to think about down the road a bit after everyone gets our Voodoo settled in his new home ('cause I refuse to entertain the idea that he won't find a perfect place).

I have been watching this thread, waiting to post because I wanted to say what I mean, an it's not always that easy!
First off, I fully 100% support your choice, Gemp. Unfortunately, I know the feeling and how hard it can be. It's one of the scariest and hardest thing to come to terms with, and make a decision. I feel like I know and love Voodoo, but I know what happens when dogs do things like this. ((((((((hugs))))))), and my thoughts and prayers have been with you since this thread was started, and they will continue to be for a while! My heart also goes out to Zeus -- I'm grateful he wasn't injured worse than he already was, and I hope that he copes okay without his buddy. I think you are making a good, responsible decisions - as hard as it is... more (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) for you!!

But also, I am so proud to be a member of Chazhound. This is definitely not the first time members have pulled together when in need like this, but I will never cease to be amazed by the generosity and support that is given. I just goes to show you that people who care actually do still exist. When people chuckle and poke fun at my addiction to surfing this site I smile and laugh it off. We know why we do it, and for a good reason! When I'm just about ready to give up on people, and humanity in general I get on here and am reminded everyday that somehow, someday things are going to be okay . . .

I am so hoping that all works out for everyone--it is obvious how much you care about your pups, Gemp, and this must be so stressful to deal with. I too am touched by the collective chaz community, and it's efforts to help out in this situation (as I have also seen in other situations)--I agree with Brattina in that it is reassuring to know that there are caring people out there.
I hope all goes well in this situation.

Ok, more details...I was completely breaking the rules at work to post what I did earlier, but I had to get it out there quickly.

Ok, the company I work for has a resort down the Dallas area. I called up today to see if they would consider fostering Voodoo for a bit until we found out more about some of these potential homes. The GM didn't even hesitate, just said "Sure! Bring him on down!" And here's the best part...they're going to treat him like an employee dog, so it's all free! And since they're not busy right now at all, he'll be sure to get lots of attention. :D

Zoom, that sounds great. Are these dog people that will know what to do? It sounds great....sounds like Voodoo has a home, at least for now. I sure hope she checks in soon. How far is it from her? How will he get there? This is just great! It makes me nervous that she hasn't checked in yet. Ge-e-e-e-emp...yoooo hooooo....where are you?????
