Cookie is out of surgery and awake. The bone came together well and the laceration closed up nicely. No nasty surprises and she handled the anesthesia without a problem. The DVM spent half the conversation going on again about how sweet Cookie is. Plan is for her to come home tomorrow if she continues to recover well. They were able to get good load sharing between the plate and the bones but due to the proximity of growth plate on a young growing dog they were unable to use a screw in one spot due to the risk of affecting that leg's growth so we will have to be even more vigilant about keeping her quiet and off that leg. The long-term prognosis is full function. Other than the slight scar from the laceration she should be, to quote the surgeon, "as though this never even happened."
