I'm so relieved to know he's okay, I was worrying about him all morning at church today. And don't blame yourself for anything, I would have been in a daze as well, and wouldn't think that clearly at all.

I'm so glad to hear the update is good news! I'm glad he's on the mend and also that he doesn't seem shaken by the experience emotionally! What a relief.

This is one of my biggest fears (I'm sure most of us feel the same as dog owners), and my heart literally sunk when I saw the thread initially. I've been thinking about you both non-stop until now.

Quick update - Trent's doing very well, if it weren't for the bandages you would barely be able to tell he was hit just yesterday. He is slightly stiff but as energetic as ever and trying to do laps around the house and engage me into several games of tug. No rough playing or running for this pup yet, though.

Stayed up all night with him and slept through the day while the rest of the family waited on him. Just got up a couple hours ago! We're going in for a check up tomorrow afternoon just to be sure of everything. I felt around for injuries again and besides those on the exterior, nothing seems to be wrong. :)

Have to say that I'm extremely angry with my younger sister, though. Before I assumed that Trent had shot out the door and forgotten to wait before given the "okay" as he was trained to, in his excitement. Turns out my sister LET him out the door and gave him permission to do so, thinking it would be nice to have him greet me at the car. I sure hope she has learned her lesson...

I'm sure she didn't mean for that to happen and she couldn't have predicted it :(

On a side note, I'm so glad that Trent seems to not have suffered any emotional trauma against cars or the vets that handled him. That's a very very very good boy!

I'm so relieved that he's doing alright. Thanks for keeping us updated!

I understand that. However, it is this incident, combined with her overall carelessness, combined with the fact that he will be primarily in HER care next year when I am gone, that makes me concerned. I sat down and had a talk with her and I think she will be more responsible in the future now.

I am angry with her, but never said I directed that anger towards her. Although I will say that I'm 110% sure that she's not beating herself up over the incident. At this very moment she's baking and singing in the kitchen... she's the last person to let something like guilt eat away at her.

Michiyo-Fir - I've been very impressed with just how well he is doing. Emotionally it was as if the incident never happened. Today when we were outside (for the very brief walk on the grass) cars continued to drive past and got absolutely no reaction from him. He actually tried to hop in the car with the rest of the family when they left to go shopping. Loud noises, sudden motions, etc., none of that phases him. I'm proud of this pup.

Is there no way that you can somehow rent an apartment near your college and bring Trent?

I elected to stay near home so that it's easier on Nia >.< It's so hard to make decisions about moving with a dog.

They don't allow that for first year students, and I am attending out of state. I have already said no to Cornell and Dartmouth in order to move to a more dog friendly place.

I don't think my sister will make the same mistake again, and my mother is even more paranoid and conscientious than I am when it comes to Trent, I know he'll be safe in her hands (albeit extremely spoiled) but wanted my sister to be his primary caretaker as far as walks and training goes. The family is going through "Trent care boot camp" right now, so to speak.

**** sounds like you got into some really good schools!

You are a bigger person than I am. I'd have lost my **** on her. Want me to watch him for you? lol, mostly kidding... like I need to feed another dog.
