eye roll? That's it? you come on here talking about telling the entire neighborhood about a guy you aren't even sure is or isn't the right guy or what he may have possibly done. There's quite a stretch from lewd conduct in front of a minor and vaginal and anal rape with a baseball bat.

when it's pointed out all you can do is eye roll? and wash your hands of it? There are hardly 2 more powerful words in our language paired together than "sex offender". It evokes paranoia and extreme emotions with people, and yet some think they can casually toss it around so carelessly. I think a bit more thought about what was discussed in this thread is warranted than just some eye roll.

Because to some point, you're just feeding into this paranoia. It's like pointing at someone with a turban and screaming "terrorist!!"

Since you already called his wife, why don't you call her again, and simply state that you are concerned regarding her husband's conviction and would like to know what happened. Be polite and respectful. If she randomly disclosed her husband's age to you on the phone, she'll probably fill you in.

I highly doubt he would be allowed to live with his children under one roof if he would have been convicted of a violent rape of a minor.

I just want you and everyone to realize how strong those words are

I am going to tell you a story , i allude to the fact i had a best friend of 12 yrs totally stab me in the back.

Long story short her 7 yr old daughter came down with genital warts. they thought nothing of it because the doc told them it "could" be picked up from playing in the dirt. she showed NO CLASSIC signs of sexual abuse. A YEAR LATER
the girls friend dad was molesting the girls friend while the girl could have been there as a witness. The girl was asked if anyone had ever touched her and she said my 16 yr old at the time had done it.
my friend took her daughter to the hospital and there was an investigation.
CPS investigated my friend and found out the girl was lying about who/if anyone had touched her. NO physical evidence of penertration or anything was ever found. Her story kept changing and 6 months later my son was called to the DA's office. we went to a meeting and the DA declined to press charges because the girl had been found to be a liar. just wanting attention. i took my son in for a genital warts test the next day and when the negative results came in just confirmed the girl was lieing on my son, i just pray that whomever was touching that girl is caught. if anyone was because i cant come up with an explanation on why she has warts.
To this day I have nightmares of what his life could be like just because someone lied.

I cannot imagine any circumstance where rape and sodomy would be labeled as lewd and lascivious behavior... that's just not going to happen. I would sincerely hope that law enforcement agencies would get their facts straight and/or making sure they are talking about the right person before spouting off info to anyone who calls.

I loathe sex offenders as much as the next person (particularly people who prey on children), BUT I am well aware that some pretty minor things can get you branded. Someone urinating in their backyard, witnessed by a teenaged neighbor could, in theory, be labeled lewd and lascivious behavior... A local student was horsing around with a group of friends, he playfully bit a female friend. Days later, her mother heard of it and threw a stink. He was already 18, she was not. Thus, he's now on a sex offender list. He is, as an aside, gay. So it was not a sexual act. A very, very stupid one, yes.

I would use the same amount of caution as I normally would. I live in what many would consider to be a not so great neighborhood. However, it's quiet. I've never even looked to see if there's anyone around me listed..wouldn't surprise me. Perverts are everywhere, however, those who have been caught and those who haven't. I would use the same caution either way.

A lot of times the charge is pled down to the next lower if they plead guilty so the victim does not have to testify as sad as it is. Which is partly why you can not trust the tiers. It will say victim under thirteen so you may think they just exposed themselves but it was something much worse.

And this is all public record on your local flcourt sites. Google is your friend. As is the local paper.

I was going to say that bolded part myself. I don't agree with it, and they probably figure the person will have to register for life wherever they go, so ANY conviction is better than nothing I guess........

Certainly charges can be pled down, but I can not imagine any circumstance where they'd plead actual penetration down to lewd and lascivious behavior.

I'm also not saying he's not a creep. I am pointing out that getting out the pitchforks and torches might be a bit of overkill

Apparently everyone just needs to move to my city. There are a whopping THREE level 3 convicted sex offenders in my county (I could only find sites that listed Level 3 convictions for Minnesota, maybe it's a state thing?). I was expecting a LOT more than that. There are 0 in my apartment complex, that surprised me.

I will say that I like the method of only listing the Level 3 convictions, that way people here aren't able to witch-hunt people who haven't actually done heinous things.

Here is the info about levels:
I highlighted the parts that I found interesting/liked.

It also doesn't seem like it takes much to be considered a Level 3. Like there is a guy in my county who got a 15 year old drunk and fondled her, and he is old and icky, not a case of him being 18 and her 16. That's a Level 3.

Just two counts were enough to get my cousin a year at a women's correctional facility in Georgia, so that's all that shows on her sex offender page. What you do NOT see are the other 20 counts she was indicted on and on which she was found guilty. It was also known that she had sex with several 15 and 16-yr-old boys as well (in addition the 14-yr-olds...from where the 22 charges came), but they didn't even bother pressing charges against her for those, as they knew they would get a conviction with the others. She was 21 going on 22 at the time of the "activities".

The moral of that story is that there is so much more to the story than one would even know just by viewing her official page...and not for the better.
