Writing Pains:
Dale's death was weak. I mean to start with, the Z attacked him from behind... In the middle of an open field? And why did it leave the cow, which was still alive and moving? Z's aren't capable of planning and strategizing, and they definitely won't turn down live prey based on what the show has led us to believe. It almost looked as though the Z was using the cow as bait or something.
This episode was a TAD better at including more characters, but there are still characters left out in the dark. For example, where is T-Dog? And the first episode in a while in which Dale gets much screen time and he is picked off at the end anyway... Excellent. For a while now its been mainly a Rick/Shane drama merry-go-round with some Lori thrown in now and then.
Let's get moving from the farmhouse. It's been interesting, but the plot is beginning, imo, to get stagnant from sitting in one place to long. Time to head out
Character Annoyances:
Lori drives me NUTS. Last episode she bitches out Andrea for being selfish (not doing women's work) and yet, she is the most selfish person on the show. Carl got into trouble 4 separate times this episode because he was allowed to roam around with no supervision. Before you get on other people's cases, maybe you should get your own responsibilities under control. Carl 1. picked through Daryl's camp and stole his gun, 2. went into the barn he was told NOT to go into and put himself in danger with the prisoner, 3. wandered into the woods and teased a Z (what are you thinking?!) which ultimately followed in the direction Carl went and ended up at camp (killing Dale) and 4. showed up at the barn for the execution and was a little ****head. Last week Lori stole a car and destroyed it, and I am not even going to get started on her deciding that having a baby is a good idea right now...
Rick disappointed me this week. His wishy-washiness is going to make the group fall apart. He not only flaked on what to do with Randall, he also couldn't put poor Dale out of his misery. His talk with Carl about how he treated Carol was also totally stupid, too. As much as I love to blame Lori, Rick is also responsible for keeping Carl safe, which clearly is not working very well.
Carol. One one hand she complains about not being treated like an adult, yet, when she is brought together with the rest of the adults to make a decision about Randall, she whines about being made to choose. What do you want, Carol?!
Episode Strengths:
I loved the Herschel/Glenn scene. Really touching and good acting.
Dale's final battle in the living room was very well acted too, I thought. Even though I disagreed with what Dale was saying, the execution of the scene was brilliant by the actor.
Anyway, I look forward to next week
