I can text without looking using T9, and behind my back or in my hoodie pocket and one handed.

It takes practise! Not to mention pressure, especially in class texting hiding it from the teachers in high school!

I agree! Texting while driving, to me, is not much better than drinking and driving.

It seems a good amount of people that text do so in VERY inappropriate situations. I also HATE it when people I'm trying talk face to face to start texting someone while I'm speaking to them. Excuse yourself, answer it if you must, but don't just start talking to someone else while I'm speaking! How rude.I also remember those highschool days when students would text during class. I always hated that with a passion. I've always found it to be INCREDIBLY disrespectful - whether it be highschool or college. I've seen it in both.

There is a law in Ontario now where any use of a cell phone while driving has to be hands free. No more texting while behind the wheel! And you have to have a headset to even talk on the phone.

Good law. I still talk on my phone all the time, but I understand why it's significantly safer to have both hands on the wheel.

I hate texting on touch screens. But anything else, I can handle. I can text 6+ people at one time. ;) It just takes practice. And using T9 makes it a lot easier.

They have the same law here now.

oh I am awesome at texting! i do not call people, I text them. Used to easily do 500 texts a day on my slow days, LOL...now that I have my netbook, I am down to about 350 a day.

Although, I do find it pretty sad that texting has become such a big part in this generations lives that there is now sexting o_O

I sent over 4,000 texts last month alone. I love texting. I use maybe 100 minutes a month, in fact I just lowered my plan because of it.

I only text while driving if I am at a red light. Or if Im driving home late and theres no cars anywhere near me and stuff. But usually my friend will be with me and she is my co-texter on road trips.

"Tell him I have a 2 hour drive ahead of me, lol."
"Do you want me to also type the lol?"
"Yes of course, if I was going to laugh out loud, I would do it, I wouldnt just SAY lol."

It causes confusion sometimes, but we get the job done.

Oh plus, with a blackberry, when I get a reply from someone, it also gives me what I sent to them.

On my old phone, it was hard to text multiple people, I would have to always go back to my sent folder so see why they said "uh huh."

But now, with the blackberry, it shows the entire conversation from that day. Its a nice feature.

I'll never not have a bberry

I can thumb text well, but without a full keyboard I'm useless. "Do I have to hit it two times or three times? ****, gotta look." Frustrating as all get out having to hunt and peck again.
Same. I hate texting when there isn't a keyboard.

I have a full keyboard because I was USELESS on a number pad.
I'd get SOOOO mad at my niece for texting me because she could send me 838494 messages before I'd reply to the first one!

I'm just not good at it yet, I guess.
You will be. *hugs* You should practice on me!

:yikes: 4,000? And I thought 800 in a month was crazy, haha!

I'm going to ditto the texting while at red lights thing. I do that occasionally. I usually just ignore the phone while driving, though. I need to start turning it off or disabling the radio before I get into the car, because I can see that turning into a habit that I don't want.

Until this very day, I've only texted once, just to see what's the heck it was about :). I decided I don't like it, and never did it again.

I did occasionally received texting messages from my friends, most of them was holiday's greeting messages they left for me when I didn't answer my phone, but I always called them back in response. My friends & I much rather hear each other's voice than to receive each other's silent message! Of course, we'd have to be mindful of each other's time, and try not to call at odd hours.

We belong to the generation that believes the phone is for talking, not texting!
