What a handsome little guy! I thought he was pretty big until I saw him next to Brutus. :yikes: He's lovely, and so are Mom and Dad.

Gosh, they are gorgeous! :D Absolutely freaking adorable.

Are they often mistaken for another breed? (Since I'm sure not many people besides dog people have heard of Filas.)

He is gorgeous! If you ever need a Fila-sitter, you know where to send 'em! :D I've got 3 lovely acres and some possums and squirrels and the occasional bobcat. I've also got kongs and tennis balls and brick steps on which to obtain a nice tan.

So, are you busy today? :D Keep in mind you will be watching them at the risk of losing all squirrels, rabbits, possums and all small rodents.

I'm not sure about the bobcats. They are very nasty. I remember a bobcat almost killed Rover our Old English Sheepdog when he was a Puppy. Lady, our grown Collie was hurt, but not like Rover. You can tell that was a million years ago when I was three. People haven't named their dogs Rover in many years.:)

Oh, I would very much love to lose all those vermin creatures. But, I must confess, I might not give you your Fila back.

I'm about to start chanting for a Fila puppy until I get one. :D

Think about it, Linda, lol . . . Filas are jaguar hunters, and I would bet that from Brutie's side, at least, there are a lot of those genes :D

I have no idea what is going on with my brain the last few days. I feel really stupid now. Jaguars are a lot bigger than bobcats...

Ok, so the bobcats would be gone also. :)

I have a friend who has been talking about wanting one for months. She has 2 cats and a 3 year old daughter and not much dog experience. Is there anything I could recommend for her to read or any breeders around here she could talk to?

I would start by sending her to this site for some pure, unvarnished information: Fila Brasileiro and Neopolitan Mastiff

And then I'd tell her to go to some rare breed shows where some are being shown and try to find some where there are going to be temperament tests run. There should be some up around you. Jeannine (PlanetMolosser) could help her find some.

Oh, I forgot about Jeanine. She would definitely know.
I'm not at all sure this lady is ready for a dog like this, but I don't know that she can be convinced otherwise so I'd like her to meet someone who knows their stuff.
Thanks!

Watching a Fila TT should help her decide, lol . . .

I'll be honest, when I first met Kharma and Buffy's father, Gamble . . . well, let's just say I was instantly aware that I was NOT at the top of the food chain, even though he never so much as growled or in any way showed any overt desire to hurt me.

It's just an Ominous Presence.

Isn't that the truth! They are king of their jungle.
