IliamnasQuest, Kylee sounds like such a gentle girl. I'm glad the vet agreed to take her and you got that fish hook out of her mouth. I can't believe the husband was gonna shoot her just because they wouldn't be able to sell her. She obviously loves you very much as shes still with you. Trick sounds like she's got a lovely character, I love the loyalty of German shepherds. Poor Tori, it sound like you've worked wonders with her. Yeah, you eventually got Dora I bet you were thrilled when the breeder rang you. Oh and another chow, I'm really fond of the breed, I think they have stunning faces. It sounds like Khana has fitted in perfectly with all your other dogs.

Sorry to hear about Kody. That was a real mean thing to have happen.
Now this maybe a stupid questin but why three months?
Mojo was one of the "model dogs" that the students worked with in the vet tech program. I met him in february, but the semester didn't end until May so I had to wait until then to bring him home. I brought him home 4 days after my 28th birthday.

At the time the enforced wait was nervewracking, because I only got to see him one other time during those three months. But now I realize that those three months made me be more responsible and do that research because I had no other way to pass the time.

Plus besides all of that it gave me a chance to experinece the pit bull prejudice up close and personal as my entire family fought me on my decision to adopt Mojo. They do not like pit bulls and are greatly influenced by the media. They thought for sure I'd bring this dog home, and he would turn on me - why could I get a poodle mix instead?!

Since Mojo came home to live with me, my parents have become more comfortable with him - my dad will even ask for him now - but they still dislike pit bulls as a whole. Which I find that sad.

So, I am definately glad that I had to wait those three months, because it really gave me the chance to think my decision over and make me sure of it. I could have backed out of it, I was given the option by the school. But the research, the experiences with my family and my own conviction that this was the dog for me... made me even more determined to bring him home. :)
