This happened this morning.

Whenever a student is tardy, absent, or goes home early their parents have to sign them in or out at the office. Everyday Audrey arrives late and her mother signs her in.. well today I noticed that someone new was with Audrey but I didnt ask who it was. I automatically thought it was her sister or family member. Five hrs later Audrey's mother calls the office and asks if Audrey made it to school. I said YES she's here and her mother goes on to say that their car had broken down by the side of the road and a nice lady had stopped to help. Well, she sends Audrey with the nice lady ('a complete stranger' the mother says) and tells the lady to drop Audrey off at school:eek: Thank-god Audrey made it to school!! I about dropped the phone when I heard that. I cant believe that mother sent her daughter to school with stranger. Audrey is a 1st grader.

glad the little child arrived safe and sound. That was a huge risk and i believe should be reported for it might fall under child endangerment. I am still upset that a neighbor sent a 6 year old to a bus stop that was not attended alone. It is a very wooded area as well, that was in my mind beyond reckless even if it isn't illegal. THe buses no longer come close to the homes of children that age. This stop is almost a block away.

I agree that is awful, but I dont see how could she wait FIVE HOURS to see if her child made it to school. She shouldve been calling alot sooner than that

Out of sight? Let's talk about the 1/2 freakin' MILE we'd have to walk to get to our bus stop... in a rural area!!!

lol grammy!! Up hill both ways? ;)

I teach a dance class after school gets out on Wednesdays and Audreys one of my dance students so casually I asked her who the lady was that brought her to school and she said it was a family friend BUT her mother told me earlier she was a complete stranger on the phone. I actually saw her mother when she came to pick up Audrey. I didnt say anything about it but her mother asked me if I needed a ride home..l I said NO and that I had my car.. lol

It does sadden me though that not too many years ago this would have just been a tale of a good samaritan who helped out a person in their time of need.

But today it's of an irresponsible parent and a possible child rapist. Not criticizing ya'lls views, I wouldn't hand my child over to a complete stranger either, just noting how society has changed from a generally friendly over-tone to one of suspicion, hatred, and distrust.

i totally agree, it is really sad...i was actually thinking about that too, and unfortunatly, we HAVE to be suspicious of people...there are so many sickos running around. I think the situation would be more of a 'good samaritan' one had the mother came along to ensure her daughter got to school safely...

and for the woman who did bring the daughter....she is a VERY good samaritan and it is nice to hear of stories where people actually do good for others, lol
