Beautiful British Columbia!!
WOOF that is a big dog  I've heard of them but never seen any in person and I just looked up a picture and whoah!

Ironically, I was playing with the Iams breed selector for fun because it seriously takes every aspect of lifestyle and personality into account, and it threw me Boerboel at least 6 times. But I have no idea if I could handle a dog that size. With good training, of course, but I'm just imagining a Boerboel yanking my little 115lb body off the ground and tossing me casually into orbit.

Well maybe not orbit  But now my interest is peaked. I must learn more about these dogs either way.
They are awesome. I have to add though, you can get the smaller ones. My boy is 120lbs and probably will top 130 give or take. They where bred to be farm dogs. So they are suppose to be on the smaller scale of things. Those 170-200lb monsters are freaks of nature is you ask me. And most of them would not be able to run around on a farm all day.

I also should add that I weight 120lbs and although Panzer can take me out if he wanted to. I never worry about it, and the best part is that he does not drool. WINNING!!!

If you have questions feel free to send me a PM. :)

Auggie is retired.
Has been for over two years.

My agility packing list still calls for "Auggie's food and pills."

I just haven't really got the heart to change it. I don't even really want to change it to "dog's food and pills" to even include Payton and Georgie. I just... don't want to change it...

I'm going to my first UKC show tomorrow! So excited. :D I met a breeder a couple weeks ago, loved her and her dogs, and tomorrow I'll be helping hang onto dogs ringside while she's showing.

Just because it is cold and icy out does not mean I can not walk my dog. Unlike a lot of people, I actually take my dog on a substantial walk (2 miles) every day. I am not going to skip a day just because it is below freezing. I got so many dirty looks today when I took Fable on her walk, and a lot of "she must be freezing" comments. My dog has a fur coat, kind of like yours, except she didn't kill an endangered species and pay $10,000 for it. I am in no way abusing her, so go home and give your fat dog more treats.
We don't have freezing weather, but I don't walk my dogs in the rain. I absolutely love walking in the rain, but my dogs hate it and look miserable the entire time when I drag them off the porch and force them. As California drought dogs, they go months between seeing real weather and consequently are highly suspicious of anything but sunshine.

Yes... My fat dog who rarely gets walked in the winter.

Even with a coat and boots, -36C is FAR too cold for her. Short potty breaks and that's it. Not to mention with snow that's taller than her, she's not keen on being out there. So we compensate with indoor fitness training and brain games.

Anyone who walks their dogs in the bloody frigid temps we can get, is going to get a surprised look from me. Especially when we have windchill and frostbite warnings where PEOPLE aren't supposed to go out if they don't have to.

I don't mind the cold and walk (and go joring with) the dogs year round unless the temperatures are dangerous, but **** it is dangerously icy around here right now where people didn't take care of their sidewalks. Our first snowstorm ended with a nice sleet dessert and then everything froze into a death-trap. There are long stretches of ok and then long stretches of nopenopenope, especially for my 7 week post-op ACL dog.

Thank god for tricks training and inside exercises/rehab or we'd all kill each other.

Yeah, I would never walk Fable if it was THAT cold, but we never get temperatures like that around here. We are lucky if we get a 1/2 inch of snow. When I took Fable out yesterday, it was 32-33F out and it wasn't even raining. People were acting like they were in the South Pole.

And the average dog owner is not going to do inside stuff with their dog. If it is too cold to go on a walk, they stay inside and call it good.

The organization thread inspired me to clean out my dog dresser. It's official, I am a hoarder.

Nobody even fits in the damned bee costume, where did it even come from? I never use prongs, how did I end up with three of them? Choke chains? Did I use those for a photo shoot?

If anyone would like some prong collars or feels the urge to dress up their mid-sized dog as a pirate/bee/pumpkin, let me know.

Oh, I use a prong. Don't think I *need* another, but, you know. I'll take one. LOL

And if a costume would fit a 30 pound dog, I will TOTALLY take one and be sure to post photos of Cynder suffering in complete and total abused fashion.

Currently going back and forth with rescue people over what to do with Ulysses. He is absolutely the sweetest, gentlest, most lovable dog...but I have to be more careful with him than with my own biting dog. Yesterday I pinched him slightly while snapping on his collar and he mouthed my arm. He's never done that before. Last week we were playing ball and he bounced up in excitement and got the back of my arm and left a bruise. I can't predict what will be his next trigger.

Putting down a sick, hurting, or unhappy dog is one thing. Making the choice to euthanize a happy, healthy dog because he can't be safely placed is so, so hard.
