Yes (lol I too looked at ACDs as I do know a breeder of those.. but too big and too much with Dekka)

Though its a different and younger pup than the one I earlier posted a picture of.
Exciting! I think I would like one someday...

If you are making a trip out of it, there are a bunch of us around CT :D

My sweatshirt is hanging on a chair in my room and the pockets are full of treats from class last night. I can't even tell you how many times I woke up last night to the sound of Cajun's teeth smacking together, and her trying to stick her nose in the pockets. I don't even think she's finding success. Give it a rest!

Mine would just chew holes through the fabric to get at what they want. Dekka in particular has chews through pockets to get CRUMBS lol.

Kind of depressed and anxious that I haven't heard anything back about Nina yet. She has to have been re-adopted now. But I don't want to go back because it would torture me. But I keep re-checking the website looking for her picture or info or scouring my email in case anyone reached out after I gave them the personal letter to give to the adoptee.

Ever want something so physically bad it hurts? I have wanted a dog forever. We are finally married now and I found a dog at a rescue that I seriously fell in love with. This last week with my uncle passing away I would look at this little girls picture and just smile. Hubby convinced me to fill out an app, and I did. We got turned down because we don't have a fence. Even after I said we were planning on putting one up eventually, but we were gonna put up a temporary run and we had other ways to exercise her. It just makes me so sad. I have been a snarky brat all week since then. I really liked this dog.

We looked online at a breeder, but its really just out of our price range right NOW with all the money we just spent on our honeymoon. All the dogs in the shelters by us appear to be generic bully mixes, lab mixes. It's like all the other mixes get picked up by rescues and the prices get raised etc.

All I want is a velcro, companion, lap dog. Is that too much to ask?

So now a dog is off for the foreseeable future.

Can you check your local Craigslist, see if something there strikes your fancy? You could end up with a pretty cool dog! A coworker found a purebred Corgi and adopted him, after scouring rescues with no luck, and I was able to find my father in law his Boston Terrier. :)

ETA: It is really annoying that rescues turn down homes for not having a fence. That's just...so dumb. I've only had a fence for the past 6 months, and while I love it, my dogs lived just fine without one.

Yes, I've been looking. But even on there is all your generic bully lab mixes. I found a collie mix in GA at a shelter but she's not on our way home from NJ. He promised me we would know "our" dog when we see her. He said she will probably pick us and not to worry. But I'm just in a funk. It's either never the right time, or we can't find a dog we like.

We will keep looking - but I will not apply to a rescue again, I don't think. I even said I wanted to maybe try agility, told them how much research I'd put into the breed, and how hubby was building me a grooming table for grooming her. She just had the most perfect face. We wanted a young dog, she was maybe 4. Still young but older than we wanted. She was sable, and we had wanted merle but it was just something about her pic and profile I felt connected to and I am more crushed than I should be, I guess.

A few months ago, I was exactly in your shoes. I had spent years planning to get a dog of my own after having multiple family dogs. I was graduating college, I moved into a pet friendly apartment (that is 1,100 sq ft, so not tiny by any means) and we were ready to add a dog to the! I know I wanted to rescue, instead of going the breeder route and I knew I wanted a herder/herder mix. I tried rescues but NONE of them would adopt to us for the same reason - no fence. Even though I told them they're is a dog park with both a fenced and not fenced area just a few miles away. If I were you, I would keep looking on shelter websites AND call you're local shelters. We found our 6 month old herder mix after calling a shelter to ask if they had any herders that weren't on their main floor yet. A lot of them get snapped up really quickly, and he wasn't on their website OR on the adoption floor. After talking for a bit, we drove up, fell in love and adopted him before he was technically listed as up for adoption. This wasn't uncommon in the shelter I volunteered for either. You just have to become a bit stalkerish, lol.

I don't know if that would work for you or not, but it helped us get our boy : )

Don't be afraid to look further afield, either. Some rescues are willing to transport their dogs to other areas for willing adopters. I used to work with a lady in New York who would pick dogs off the Los Angeles County shelter websites, I would go pick up the dogs, get them vetted, and put them on a plane. I think her adopters paid $300 adoption fees for their small dogs in an area where little guys didn't tend to show up in shelters.

A more local friend in my individual rescue network sends dogs across several states with small aircraft pilots who happen to be going the right direction. There is a rather enormous Facebook rescue effort where I constantly see people offering to pull and transport dogs if only an adopter can be found in time.

Just got home from work and found out that ALL of the dogs were in some way "bad" today except one.

....

Rigby was the good dog today. Yes. Terrible Rigby. :rofl1:

I keep calling Hank Hanky Panky. That poor dog.

Also, I have actually called him Crossbone OUT LOUD once or twice. Can you believe that? I have never even met Crossbone but he looks so much like I imagine Crossbone does in real life.

Yes!!! I have my puppy on reserve and I just hope everything works out (you know how the universe likes to **** everything up). People say puppy fever isn't as bad as baby fever but I think it is!
