Thanx!!

Ok so they are a week old..

Their weights have gone from..

Wash 6.5-13.3
Kat 7.9-16.2 (wow over a pound now!)
Solo 6.7-15.0

Pups are supposed to double their weight in a week. I was a little doubtful these monsters would, as they were so large, but they did. Solo grew like crazy and is catching up to Kat.

Their eyes look to be opening soon. I bet Solo will be first. They are moving around like crazy and even trying to stand! We are applying light stresses to them, such as gently pinching a toe, a cold wash cloth etc.

Pictures later today in the Dekklet picture thread!

The all have slits.. the only full eye is still Solo's lol.

They are standing and toddling around... sooo cute!!

They have been ravenous lately.. as in trying to latch on to eachother and people (fingers, chins.. lol) so I started to supplement them am and pm AFTER they have finnished nursing. I dont' want Dekka's milk to be drastically reduced by reduced nursing.

I love it when their eyes are opening and the start to respond to sounds. It's just as wonderous to me as when they are born. Glad all is going well.

It's your call , but I never supplemented . It's supply and demand and Dekka seems to be doing fine with the 3 .

I had to supplement with Twists litter (Dekka's mom) Twist always tapered off milk production too early. WHo knows it could be genetic.

I am not sure why someone wouldn't supplement if the mom started to decrease production... Its very sad to see frantically hungry puppies :(. Even if they still survive (as there is still milk) I can't see how any breeder could think its a good idea health wise.

Puppies shouldn't frantically latch onto fingers, chin, palm etc as soon as you pick them up. They shouldn't try to suck eachother's ears off, nor suck o their paws. Puppies tummies should be slightly rounded after a good feeding.... I really can't see how ANY breeder could see this happening and shrug it off!

Heck I didn't produce enough milk for my human child (even after much effort) So I know supply and demand isn't fool proof.

Oh and I took Dekka's temp to make sure the lack of milk wasn't due to an infection. Her attitude is bright and happy, she likes the pups and cleans them etc, she just seems to be tapering off production to early.

THe Dekklets are now 3 weeks, how the time flies.

They are getting quite active and their personality are starting to show. Kat is a real pistol, rrrrrr-ing and trilling and chewing on her brothers (or me) and is often on the move trying to get into stuff.. Solo think he is a little 'coon with all his trilling lol. He is laid back, out going and really sweet. Wash is the complainer :D He is independant though and is catching up to the two others in size.

I will try to get some standing pics this week to show conformation.

I must say that I agree with you totally. At this moment in time they are growing like weeds so supplementing them, especially with good food, does FAR more good then anything else.
