The Dekklet Diaries.....

Wash is from Firefly.. love that character. Katarra is a female wookie for star wars (and Katara is a girl in Avatar) No name is now Solo (as in Hans)

Dekka was spayed for a few reasons... its physically easier on her surgery wise, I wasn't sure I wanted a second litter anyway, and this way she wouldn't have to be put under anaesthetic twice (I wanted to spay her if not breeding as she has a habit of coming into heat before important trials) I don't breed often. This is my third litter ever. I bred because I wanted a Dekklet. If she had an easy time and loved the pups I might have done a round two only because there were only 3.

Had to pick mom up and carry her out to go pee, and she gave a grumble about it. I suspect that we won't be able to have just anyone do that for a bit!!

Hopefully by tomorrow some are caught up on sleep, and we'll be able to grab some better pics etc. I'm back to cuckoo hours again starting tomorrow, needing to be several places at once most of the week.

I am back in the land of the living... I DO NOT do well with lack of sleep.. and being awake for over 36 hours did not make me a happy person .

But here are some updates, pics will follow later today.

They are all gaining weight..

Katarra's drop in weight is normal for newborns.. I am surprised no one else did a little dip. They are all doing very well.

Dekka is very protective of them. My Mom dropped Darien at home (he was away for the weekend) so she came upstairs to look at the puppies. Dekka growled at her as soon as she came up the stairs. So no visitors for the pups! Dekka gets very anxious when I weight the pups if they cry... she starts whining and looking fretful. Poor thing. Her incision is doing well.. she climbed the xpen this morning (totally wasn't expecting that as you have to pick her up to get her to leave the pups now) to tell me she wanted seconds of breakfast.

I think that is all for now (awake but not really 'with it' yet lol)

I just watched the birth! Scary stuff at how she was with the pup. You handled it very well! Do you think it was confusion?

I think it was confusion and pain. She started to be better as soon as the pain went away.

I got to see them!! Adorable. Seriously. And so so big!! I didn't want to make Dekka too anxious, (Kerri was telling me the stories that had been posted here already about her being growly) so I only got to see Kat up close (who was out with Kerri for a little bit), but they look like they're doing fantastically! Dekka seems to really be a good mom now too.

I cant' believe how much bigger they're getting every day! How fun to watch them grow up!!

And every time I pop in to the puppy cam, the little girl's laying on her back.

Poor Dekka, she probably just wanted to destroy the source of her pain! She is being a real super star now! Such a good mom!
