Disclamer: I believe that all dogs are good dogs if properly trained!!! And I love all dogs.

But I still believe that some breeds have bad temper, less patient and do not easily adapt to human life. These breeds therefore can be dangerous if not properly trained. I read this information from a local discussion forum and want to share. Sorry I cannot translate most breeds names in English. Maybe you can advise:

14th - Pitbull (they said it born to be a fighter?)
- origin: US

13th - Big dane (they call it "gentle giant"?)
- origin: Germany

12th - Italian ?? "Best guard"
- origin: Italy

I am guessing TIBETAN MASTIFF has such a huge and strong body, therefore they will less likely to obey a tiny human...

Even they are as nice as other breeds, they are most dangerous when go crazy...

I think that some dogs require more management than other dogs, usually those breeds are the ones with a strong protection/guardian drive, but I still don't think that makes them dangerous.

And please define dangerous. Most of the breeds you have up there are protective breeds, but then you have a pit bull and a bull terrier (can't remember if there's more, too lazy to look again) who are not protective guardian breeds but rather have a high propensity towards dog aggression. Hell, in Australia Greyhounds are considered dangerous because of their high prey drive!!

I truly do not believe that there are dangerous breeds of dog. I think that there are breeds of dog that usually require more management, but if properly managed are not "dangerous" in the way that society is trying to press on them.

Instead of looking at the above breeds as dangerous, look at them as very powerful breeds, who should be respected and NOT feared. And as my friend just said this morning: when there's a problem with a dog the first place you have to look is at the OTHER end of the leash.

I am a little shocked with your list................my Orson didn't even make the list..........WOW! :)

The list here in the USA would be a little different because certain breeds are more common. Some of the dogs on your list I have never even seen in person.......ANYWHERE.

And as for "dangerous" it all comes down to who owns them, and how they are trained & cared for.............in other words..........HUMAN FACTORS.

Only fourteen? I can think of at least 25 who are dangerous in some way, shape or form.

1. Humans
2. Humans in large groups
3. Humans who drive
4. Humans who use cell phones
5. Humans who use cell phones while driving
6. Humans who drink
7. Humans who drink and drive while talking on their cell phone and picking their teeth
8. Humans who haven't had their coffee
9. Humans who have had too much coffee
10. Human males with man-boobies who don't wear shirts when they do yardwork.
11. Humans who get tired of other humans talking through the movie
12. Humans in line at the license bureau
13. Humans who can't figure out how to operate a gas pump
14. Humans who think too much
15. Humans who don't think enough
16. Humans with more than two stuffed animals on the back dashboard of their car
17. Humans who wear flip-flops in public (I just incriminated myself)
18. Humans who watch too much television and believe what they see on it
19. Humans who get between me and my Dr. Pepper
20. Humans who can't make special orders right at the fast food restaurants. (I mean, how hard can it be to know that "no lettuce" means you don't put any lettuce on there?)
21. Humans who wear perfume as an alternative to bathing
22. Humans who put disposeable cutlery in the sink and expect their wives to throw it away, even though the trash can is only 6 feet away, and this isn't T.G.I.Friday's for crying out loud!
23. Humans in miniature (ie children)
24. Humans who lick their fingers and then grab the spoons at the buffet
25. Humans who believe that there are breeds of dogs that are inherently dangerous.

Yeah, I find myself wondering how this list was even created. Looks like they just picked through the mastiffs and livestock guardians that they thought looked the meanest. (Throwing in some bull breeds for good measure, of course)

number 2 there is a TOSA, they are so huge! My bf's mother has one, and she is already 85 pounds and only 11 months old. I can't wait to see how big she will actually get :) I wonder if I can find a pic... brb

Yeah and Im a little upset there aren't any toy/small breeds on there... some of those things can be downright vicious. :p

I agree, looks like someone went through, found pics of the biggest/meanest looking dogs and said these are the most dangerous, just look at them!

It's a good thing we all know better...

I read this and laughed, so much I nearly bust my stitches (just had a biopsy). very, very good, really brightened my day.
Joking apart I have to agree with all of you, if a dog is trained and respected correctly then there are no dangerous dogs just dangerous owners.

How did they come up with this list?

Just find the biggest dogs they can and put them into a list together and call it dangerous?

AWWWWW Sammy is a big squishy faced baby! (also means adorable). But be careful according to the list he plans on eating you sometime in the near future.

honestly that list is very stupid. It's someone who just goes with what he has been told (that certain breeds are born evil) and ignores the fact that a dog has no reason to be vicious without help from his human counter parts. Guardian breeds are more likely to guard your home and you most bully breeds are more likely to attack other DOGS those things are in their breeding. non of these breeds were raised for the purpose of randomly attacking people. Sure their size may make them more difficult to handle if you did not train them but it will not make them mean. All dogs came from wolves, from there they were bred for a specific purpose. Dogs who fulfilled that purpose best were bred and those that could not were not bred. Now think about it, no one needed a dog who would randomly attack people including family so why would a breed like that develop? Well it wouldn't and that's why we don't have any that do. When a guardian breed encounters a stranger it SHOULD be wary it is supposed to be, if you socialized him he won't be any more than wary. If you did not then he may be wary AND afraid, afraid because you did not socialize him. If he bites do to this wariness and fear it is your fault. The breed gave him wariness, something that would not make him bite someone you accepted in the home or he saw on the street. YOU gave him fear which for many individual dogs can be the sole reason for a bite. But the fear plus the wariness made him go over. If you had socialized he would not have bit even though he was wary. You could have prevented it but chose not to. That is why it is not the breeds fault and is the humans fault that the dog bit.

As far as bully breeds go when people say well they were bred to fight, of course they are vicious well the person seems to be missing the fact that they were bred to fight DOGS and, I promise, a dog can tell the difference between a person and a dog, yes they can even tell children are not dogs contrary to popular belief. This whole certain breeds of dogs are evil I don't care what you say thing is VERY annoying, I think there is nothing I can do about it. If the news and TV did something then maybe there would be a chance but the thing is most of the news reporters think they are vicious too so they can't report it convincingly, but TV shows for children could, of course they would have to regularly state that the dog was a "pit bull". Maybe the news should stop reporting dog bites all together since there is no way they can give fair coverage to all breeds, there are just too many breeds and too many bites.

NO breed has any more tendency to bite than ANY other breed, it would make no sense if they did.
