Well since everybody started mentioning their tattoos in julie furrys thread i thought i'd start this since a decent number of you guys seem to have them. So

1) what do you have & where is it

2) how old were you when you got it & why did you want it

3) will you be getting anymore

4) and the question everyone who doesn't have a tattoo ask did it hurt =)

- i have an open book with landscapes on the pages done in a japanese block print style. it's about the size of my hand and on my right shoulder blade

- got it 6 days ago and i'm 21. A history major, book worm, and I love art it just seemed to come together in a design really well

- probably going to get a border done in henna style around this tattoo in a year or so but i think thats it for me

- some parts hurt a lot others i barely felt. most of the time it was like being scratched by a cat with hot claws. more irritating then painful

I have a tribal cross done on my right arm and I got it when I was twenty one. I got mine after my grandma died, as a tribute to her. I'm getting one done for my birthday and then I'm going to get my first tattoo added on to when my other grandparents pass on as I tribute to them. Mine didn't really hurt just felt like bee stings or getting a shot.

Left ankle.....a teal, purple and black dragonfly (little white dots on it's wings) she did a really good job on it...very artistic....the wings look whispy.
Right ankle......another dragonfly on the front of my ankle....red, teal, purple, black with a black bracelet that goes all the way around my ankle with a diamond shaped jewel on the back of my ankle. It's really cool, but it's the one that the red is bothering me.
2) how old were you when you got it & why did you want it
I was 44 years old and my daughter and I got the same tatoo (hers is on her lower back...my mom had just died from lung cancer and a brain tumor and at the end....we put a dragonfly sticker on her window in her room, and she would always look at it and say how pretty it was and how much she liked dragonflies. We thought that would be a good tribute to her memory.
3) will you be getting anymore

4) and the question everyone who doesn't have a tattoo ask did it hurt =)
YES!!!! It really did hurt...more then I thought that it would...I'm really tough to!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't have another one, but I'm glad that I got the ones that I have!

1) what do you have & where is it: I have a cherry blossom band around my arm with a Japanese symbol above it, and Teddy Bear on my shoulder blade with kids names, a wolf howling at the moon on my lower back and a bumble bee on my ankle.

2) how old were you when you got it & why did you want it: I was 23 and i had wanted one for as long as i could remember, i had it done b/c of my children

3) will you be getting anymore :I want 1 more.

4) and the question everyone who doesn't have a tattoo ask did it hurt =):It didn't hurt me to have any of them, but i know people that say it does.
I think it depends on your level of pain tolerance.

I personally am anti tattoos ....but mainly the ones that can be seen when dressed for work or etc. A small , special tattoo , I can accept ..... but any on neck, chains around ankles , wrists are ugly to me. I've seen neat ones on the small of the back though. I'm just glad at 73 that I didn't get any. A small rose on my breast at 18 would now be a long stemmed one....

I just got a new tattoo last night.

I have two more. One on my back and is a religous symbol. The other is on my ankle and is a butterfly.

I do not know if I will get more.. But I got them all because they have meaning for me.

I have a lot of japanese on me, but I am japanese lol, so I know it doesn't mean anything silly like: loves dung :D
Where are they (AGE):
1)(18) 5 symbols in japanese down my left thigh meaing: To be born pure, live, love and die
2. (19) Hubby's name on my lower belly, out of sight, small cursive
3. (19) My last name, 2 symbols, on my inner left ankle (OUCH!)
4. (19) And my last one, the outline of a butterfly a little above my heart. For my grandmother. She was from japan and lived out in bc in the mountains, a rough neck woman, but when she married my grandfather (royalty in japan) she became a princess :) I thought a butterfly would capture her being, her transformation.

I've wanted an oriental dragon since I was very young but all of my tatoos are "cover upable". Ex) Right now you can't see any!! A dragon is quite large and I think I'll just have to get a poster! LOL

I'm done for tatoos. All of my mine are placed well, where they can be seen if I want them to and covered up if I don't. They all mean something to me..

1) I have one across my lower back--its a design in black with pink/purple in the center--kind of hard to describe LOL.

2) I got it this past year for my 34th birthday. I've wanted a tattoo for a couple of years now, and felt good about the way I look, my weight etc and just felt that this was the time to do it.

3)Probably not--I don't really care to have any that can be seen (unless I want to show them) and I don't really have much space!

4)No, it didn't hurt. It felt more like a constant scraping then anything else, and stung a bit right afterwards. But painful? Not to me.

Color will be added after it is healed. It was getting a bit late and frankly, it hurt too much to continue! I'm a big baby I know....

1) what do you have & where is it

I've a rose stabbing through a heart on my right shoulder blade.
I've a hindu symbol on my left upper arm.

2) how old were you when you got it & why did you want it

I got the rose when I was 19, as a birthday present from a friend.
I got the symbol from my husband as an Xmas present.

3) will you be getting anymore

YES. I'm getting two pawprints on my other arm, to start. Eventually I'll get a rottweiler head somewhere. I'd love to be COVERED in them.

4) and the question everyone who doesn't have a tattoo ask did it hurt =)

Not really. I fell asleep during the second one, I had meditated myself right out of the experience! :)

Okay im going to ask all you "tattoo peoples" opinions. This summer im getting a couple peircings done and I was thinking about getting a small tattoo alittle bigger then a dime or penny. I would like to get it at the back of neck kind of between my shoulder blades. But I just wanted opinions on where you think is the least painful spot to get a tattoo. And no I am not interested on tattoo peircings. Because no offence to women on here who have them but I think tattoos on womens arms look trashy.

So im open for opinions.

pixie you can't say something looks trashy and then no offense =) next time just say you dont like the way it looks or its not for you. but to answer your question theres no way to tell how bad its going to hurt everybodies different. i'd question getting a tattoo the size of a dime though unless its really really simple its not going to hold up well. make sure no matter what you get you go to a good artist

My opinion is if your worried about pain don't get it. Expecially the back of the neck.. As a rule anything close to bones is going to hurt worse. Like someone else said though, everyones different. And since I have one on my back I can tell ya, you DON"T want it there if you can't handle pain. ;)

The best way to deal with it is to put your mind someplace else.

My hubby had his 1st Tattoos done last year.
He had the childrens names written down his arms (sort of like Eminem) and he had my name written down his neck (from the base of his head to the top of his shoulder blades).
Out of all of them (thinking that the neck would be the most painful) he actually said that it was the least painful on the neck.

But it doesn't matter where you have one done..........if you don't like pain then it will hurt b/c you will gear yourself up expecting pain!

Just have one whereever you want and make sure you get a recommended Artist b/c if you don't like the finished result you will be stuck with it!!
