Jeremys talking about buying a generator for next season *rolleyes* I told him if it goes long enough to need a generator have tent will travel. Im really worried about the flooding here though. We have a cow pond behind us (500-600 ft i would say) and weve had non stop rain for weeks. Our watertable is so full its taking ditches almost a week to absorb all the water for a basic storm.
thats the big problem here , in my yard under the swing set it is a dirt patch. with all the rain we have had it has not dried up in weeks , the dirt patch is growing algae

At the kennels my old boss would have me take a little hoe and dig a little channel and direct the water away from standing. Say the word hoe to any of the kids around here and they giggle and have no idea what you are talking about. IT will help it dry out faster and not grow eewie stuff.

We're expecting to get between 10 and 14 inches of rain. Should be fun!

My vet dropped off some Banamine and Buscopan for me to administer should either of them colic. I don't feed grain, so that helps a little bit.

Right now, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and there's hardly a fluffy white cloud in the sky. It's actually quite a beautiful day. :)

We're about to start final preps to our barn.

I'm starting to get nervous now because of the entire uncertainty of this storm. Louisiana weather people forecasted it to it Louisiana all along, even before the models predicted Iif to do so. And even though it's just fluctuating between ending up as a Cat 1 and Cat 2, there is the belief that it is just a perfectly placed storm to cause lots of damage.

Oh, and for those unaware, it will hit land on the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. How's that for irony.

This storm is starting to remind me of Ike, the hurricane that hit us a few years ago. It was slow moving, and huge. It was only a #2, but the storm surge was devastating. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Prepared here, although I'm not as close as most.

However, the people that are totally flipping their lids are kind of annoying. I'm no n00b to hurricanes, been in Louisiana for a decade now and watched the eye wall of Rita go right over me. So, I'm not too worried about Isaac. He is a Category 1 now, I think, and that is nothing compare to what we have been through.

My biggest worry is flooding and power loss. The big creek behind me should suck up most of the water, but I hate losing power.

Those south of New Orleans or IN New Orleans, stay safe. Idk if those levees can be trusted. ):

Isn't it suppose to do more tomorrow? I hope those levies don't break. That's so scary. Hope you all stay safe or get out of Dodge for a while.

We had a hour storm and that was it here. We expected some wind or rain with how big it is but apparently not. Mia Jeremy and I have both been saying it was ya'll. There was no way it was headed here the way they predicted and definatly not Tampa *rolleyes*

I am in the levee protection system . I feel confidant in the new ones they have built. I have handled most if the rock and cement barged into the various projects. The material is good and there has been so much scrunity during the whole process. It is not complete but this is a smaller storm than what it was designed for. There is sprinkles so far. Wind is picking up. On the coast there is flooding but they always flood and the houses are built on stilts. We are prepared and spending family time building memories. LOL
