    Everyone getting ready? Bogart?

I've got way to much to do today, and I've got to deal with a house full of worry-warts in the process.

My in-laws got their mandatory evacuation order last night, so my m-i-l is already here with their dog. My f-i-l works at one of the plants where they're from, and they're in the process of shutting it down, so he'll be here later today.

My hubby is like a nervous chicken with its head cut off. He's out getting gas and propane right now. But he works at a plant as well, and he may get called in for the hurricane crew, as he's one of the most qualified.

I've got groceries and whatnot, so we should be fine there.

I'm just stressing about my horses. Whether to put up or leave out is a highly debated issue, and neither option is wrong. My two freak out if stalled during storms (think rearing and trying to climb out or jump out of their stalls. Not to mention I've got a giant oak tree three feet from the barn, and it hangs over the barn. I could never lock them in only to have large branches, or even the whole tree, go crashing down on them.

I'm in Fl, and we haven't done anything to get ready. I'm extremely angry at the storm though because we don't have any games/practices today because of it. Stupid Isaac. I'm not worried, it will be like a afternoon thunderstorm here, just all day most likely.

Everyone else better stay safe though! It's not hitting where we are hardly at all, so I'm allowed to be nonchalant :D

YEAH Hurricane is acoming! on Katrina anniversary no less.

I am working today , and sending the hubbs out to forage for water/food supplies.

We will have my dad and step mom at the house , when i get home i have to
make sure the yard is picked up to my satisfaction, the guys tend to not really give a crap if it blows about. not cool -.-

Meds are all filled for Caleb and the little ones are excited to count lightening bolts with me. I am hoping to catch some good pictures. I live in River RIdge so it is the highest point around at 11 ft above sea level and with the river being so low , if the storm comes up the river , the river would have to rise 25 to 30 feet to over top/bust thru in an area where we could flood.

My work is crazy , but they wont expect me to stay because I am a girl. yeah for sexism lol, if we loose power for an length of time we are heading to my work , we have generators big enough to run the whole facility and the boss would let us whole up in on the the trailers on site.

How solid are your fences Mia? They would not bolt thru them?

Mia, do you guys put ID tags on the horses or anything? Dealing with horses and severe weather sucks.

Everyone in the hurricane's path stay safe! Prayers sent down your way!

..the building has hurricane windows and backup backup generators soooo.. we don't have to do much but watch!

The thing I don't like about our full hurricane windows..is that you can kind of see the storm approaching and stuff flying around lol while being cool, is kind of freaky.

Please be safe everyone! I'll be thinking of you all, sending prayers and safe thoughts :)

^ THAT! Take plenty of pictures of stuff flying! I have seen tornadoes in person, watched 'em right over our heads......but I've never seen a hurricane in person!

My husband has been in one or two when he lived on base in North Carolina (camp Leijune <sp?>) and he says is pretty neat! LOL

I have video of Gustav. Gustav sounded like a roaring freight train for hours on end. I posted pics and video on here from last year's T.S. Lee. I'll post some of this one as well

My biggest concern is Raja colicking from the drop in barometric pressure. He's done it 4 times, and I just pray he pulls through this with no problems.

ACooper, I've been though some destructive, life-altering hurricanes. But no matter the negative impact, there is just something so awe-inspiring about them. They're so complex, and each level is different. The sheer force is just as beautiful as it is ugly.

It's so eerie when the eye of the storm gets over you. The rain stops, but the winds are so powerful and relentless. The clouds are moving and swirling. All is QUIET other than the sounds of the wind. You don't hear any birds or traffic noise. It just.....is.

Stay safe, everyone! PLEASE keep us updated as much as you can... ugh, poor LA doesn't need any more hurricanes :(

We're getting pummeled with rain at the moment here! Our county is under a tornado warning. I'm thankful that we're not in the projected path, but we're going to be feeling a lot of the rain!

    Thanks!

I really, really hope we don't flood. Our house/neighborhood is on a hill and we haven't flooded yet.

I'm hoping we don't lose power either- I have stuff for chicken tacos in my crockpot and I don't want it to not cook!

Everyone try to stay safe and dry. I am going to head to the store to get extra water and canned stuff. While we are not expecting the hurricane, it is the time of year for us to get prepared.

The worse part of a hurricane, excluding the damage. Is the fricking noise. It constantly sounds like a huge train right outside your house, hours of it...until the eye hits. After that, it is dead quite. Then, more noise until the other side hits. After all of that...the heat is terrible.

I remember when Alicia hit back in 1983. I watched the barn get lifted off the horses. They all ran out, the barn set back down. Pretty scary. Trees were twisted like a big rope.

The power of a hurricane is so amazing.

I can only imagine! Kevin said you can't understand unless you've actually experienced it.......I believe it.

Tornadoes are here and gone in a blink........they don't linger. *snap* It hits and it moves on (or peters out). They sounds like a freight train, but only when it's a right outside the door, just seconds....minutes at the very most, then back to normal. I really can't comprehend being in a tornado for hours and hours  It blows my mind, and that is no pun intended! LOL

Jeremys talking about buying a generator for next season *rolleyes* I told him if it goes long enough to need a generator have tent will travel. Im really worried about the flooding here though. We have a cow pond behind us (500-600 ft i would say) and weve had non stop rain for weeks. Our watertable is so full its taking ditches almost a week to absorb all the water for a basic storm.
