I don't like it when it gets really cold, but since I've started working from home it doesn't bother me as much. Those days when I had to plug in the van for hours bfore being able to start it, and then start it at work periodically so it wouldn't get so cold it couldn't start are over! *L*

And back when I had horses the winters were rough. Before I had tank heaters I hauled 5 gallon buckets of water - and then had to haul the frozen ones back in (if the horse didn't drink or only drank partway, the rest of the water would freeze solid). I had buckets thawing inside the house and I'd dump the round chunks of ice out back where they'd form all these weird ice sculptures .. *L* .. but hauling water was NOT fun.

Then there was the year that we had three solid weeks of very sub-zero weather. If it warmed up to -10 it was a WARM day! That was the only time I saw it hit -50 here. It was 30 to 40 below every night for those three weeks, and I was feeding three horses at the time. I went through a couple of bales of hay a day, just pumping the food to them to keep them warm.

The good side of it was that we had spectacular northern lights during that time, although it was mighty cold to be standing outside watching them.

But I will take the cold weather over the 100+ temps any day! I melt like the proverbial snowman when the temperature gets over 80 or so .. *LOL*

I haven't read the whole post ....... but

Come on over to Massachusetts. Just the other day we had all four seasons in one day. I had just planted herb seedlings and left them on the deck and when I came back from errands, they were covered with snow! arrrrrgh ( I still have hope that they make it). Our saying here is if you want the weather to change, wait 15 minutes. I swear the weathermen and women :) have the best job here.... partly sunny, partly cloudy, chance of rain or snow.. can't go wrong! They probably have a recording that they play each day and don't even have to show up! LOL
