Dear Dog Lovers,

We are a group of students at Cornell university doing a marketing research project for our class. We are investigating new products to improve the life of your dog and increase the convenience of being a dog owner. By filling out the survey linked below, you will help shape future products and be eligible to win a $150 prize for participating. To be eligible, please complete the survey by 29th April 2005 (Friday).

The survey should only take a few minutes to complete. Please make sure that you include your email address to be eligible for the cash prize. However, if you do not wish to be contacted, including your email address is optional.

Thank you for your help.

Nice survey. I don't see what my age/marital status/income has to do with convenient dog products, though. I answered all questions upto that point, and then quit because I don't believe in giving out personal info like that. It's a dog survey, what do they want with my age, marital status, and income?

I think thats to see what age range is attracted to the product, and so they know generally what to charge on the"wee-wee pads"

Oh, and what was up with the tons of Piddle Pad questions? It was like half the survey was about if I would buy Piddle Pads....

I'm not inclined to believe the survey is so much a student project so much as someone looking to market piddle pads. Harmless enough probably if you don't give your personal information at the end.

I didn't give out my email address, because, I don't want one of those emails that ask for all your personal info. I did finish the survey, but still can't see what the heck my marital status has to do with anything.

I think its a step in the right direction to advertise on a dog forum and to collect more information that would make them more successful.

good point, but, maybe they wanna know if the income of the household is contributed by two people. That way, I guess they know how much to charge. That does however make the yearly income question irrelivent....

Be careful. This is a cheap survey being conducted by college students for free for whoever it is that wants to start selling wee -pads. This is not the usual way to do market research. Or it could be a way to collect e-mail addresses for their spam. Any company on the up and up would conduct their market research by paying their participants to answer surveys or attend focus groups.
