The other day I went to bed. All of a sudden I felt this thing biting me under the eye.I thought it was a mosquito so i caught it and had to make sure I knew what it was......turned on my light and had a scream/cry fest.It was this huge, yellow spider and I droped it:rolleyes: :yikes: I flipped. My eye went all red a poofy. Then I wouldn't go back to sleep till my brother found the thing!!

The stupid thing jumped down and randomly attacked my eye ! It was so strange.I still havenn't figured out why..my mom thought I was dreaming untill my eye started to swell up.

Yep that's my spider story.

OMG Vivien I would never sleep in my room again if that happened to me! I have seen so many huge spiders, UGH It sucks that I will be moving out in the country. Thats were all of the spiders congregrate.Luckily, my cat smokey is a major bug-kitty. Her primary prey are insects, or spiders. But I would go nuts if I discovered a big wolf spider in my room. I would kill it on the spot!

I should not have... I should not have!

Ewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!

Kase, you have my utmost respect that you have the heart not to kill'em. I can't really do it either... but mostly because I am too "ewwwed out" by spiders. *shudder*

Lol Jules I hope this thread didn't freak you out too much!
Are you kidding me? I'm itchy all over now :)

I know it is not the same... but we have a tick infestation in this area... Dan and I took Casanova on a walk a couple days ago and Dan pulles 38 ticks off of him and I counted 29.... EWWWW.... 3 had latched on to me... GROSS! So I have been feeling itchy ever since... and this thread did not help :lol-sign:

Anyway... I googled a bit and found this forum... the suggestions they wrote there were the same ones I found on different sites.. so it might be worth a try if you want to try out some natural repellents!:)

Oh wow thankyou Jules!! :)

And I've got to say EWWWWW about the ticks!! I hate ticks!! I dread the day I ever find one on me.

I spent all week on my school trip to the Isle of Arran with my hands tucked up my sleves and wouldn't sit on the grass lol. One of the guides there had a tick crawl out of their nose!!!! They didn't realise it was there until it was full and crawled out!

I would have freaked if I had some on me like that! I don't kill spiders or bugs but I do/would kill ticks and fleas if they were on Casey (thats a different story altogether ;)).

We live somewhat "out in the country", and my parents found a SNAKE in their bedroom at like 1AM once... my dad and I took care of it though, and my big brother was squealing the entire time. I laughed. Anyways, I've found spiders in bed before, so I always check in my pillowcase and on the sheets before I get into bed. It's worth the look. The only spiders we have in our house are fiddle-backs... they're posionous.

When I was in the military in Louisianna we couldnt use any lights at night and we slept on the ground. Getting spider bites was a nightly event. I hated spiders before I went in and after I got bit a few times and had many of them on me they dont bother me anymore. I dont know how to break that phobia other than face it. I think it is a phobia worth breaking.

they stay up in the corners of those 10' ceilings and catch any unwanted flies or skeeters!
My cats take care of THEM too! Ever seen a cat lock onto a fly? The fly can't get a chance to rest. The fly lights on something and just can't hide. Next then you know, after about ten minutes of that, the fly starts to slow down. Next thing you know, its arse is draggin' just enough for the cat to whack it dead. And cleanup is easy. You go to grab a tissue and return and the fly is gone.

When we moved into this house there were spiders. After one time of one climbing on me in bed I called an exterminator. They come once every three months and spray. It is not harmful to my dogs and so easy. Plus they put those sticky boards next to the wall at the head of my bed to catch any spiders that might still be alive. That fixed our problem. We hardly ever see a spider now. Good luck, I hate crawly things.

My cats are pretty useless, they don't go for spiders lol.

I would give anything to get over my fear of them, I don't want to be scared of them and know I should face my fear st some point. I'm glad you got over yours!

You could try the method called "flooding". Go to a pet store that sells tarantulas and ask to hold one. Don't worry, they are defanged. :D

We have them in our animal unit at college and I couldn't even put my hand in to change their water . I'm going to have to try it some day though!

The dogs are more efficient on the flies and buzzy things though. Two or three snaps at the air and it's gone - and no cleanup required. ;)

You'd have loved watching my Big Blue Cat, Gonzo, do away with wasps. He'd wait for them to land and impale them on one claw, then give his paw a quick shake and off would flip a dead wasp.

He did learn the hard way, though, not to mess with stink bugs.

My Erika is afraid of spiders to. Never saw any in the house, but she saw some at camp and freaked. Counsellor had to calm her down.
