If there were serious health issues, I could understand your fury, but as far as I understand the problem, the only thing that could have happened here is that your dog might become temporarily unshowable due to hair loss. Undesirable though that may be, it's not much of an excuse to curse about small children behaving like small children.
If in future you want people to understand your first priority is your dog's health, you might want to mention it specifically. Not everyone on this forum knows you, and what you write in any post is what most people will judge you on. I initially assumed you were worried about your dog's health, but after the third post mentioning how detrimental it was to his show career to lose his coat, it seemed a little less obvious.
Do you have ANY idea of how much time and money goes into a show dog?

Maybe she was getting ready for a specialty. Did you ever think about that? A show dog's apreance MUST be impecable. Do you realize how important that is to some people?

Who are you to judge because she is upset about her dog loosing his coat?

I would be furious if Emma lost her coat due to someone else's stupidity and not watching their kids. Emma's not a show dog. How do you know it whont be VERY uncomforetable for the dog to loose it's coat? Itchy mabybe?

Dont judge people because they show their dogs.

I am 36 and female...........I am definately not like you Casablanca.
I also would venture to say SummerRiot is not like most girls in their early 20's. Do you even know anything about her?

By the way Riot is not just for show. He is being trained in tracking, and various other things.

It infuriates me to see people judged solely on age.

I'm 22 years old, and I show dogs as well. I am not like "most girls" whatever that's actually supposed to mean, Casablanca. Interesting that you go on and on about the lack of maturity we "children" have, yet you stoop to the same kinds of baseless judgements and generalizations that I saw little girls in high school pull all the time.

It takes a lot of maturity, sensitivity, time and money to show a dog. Especially when you're doing it in conjunction with being a student. I take care of all of my animal's own expenses (entry fees aren't cheap), grooming and training. People owner-handling show dogs spend a lot more time than the *average* pet owner (although there's not too many of those on Chaz!), and our animals LOVE what they're doing. Don't think for a second just because someone shows a dog, they love it less. In all actuality, it is our extreme devotion to a breed or a particular dog that drives us to this. "Most girls" my age aren't devoting their free time to learning about coat-color inheritance, genetic diseases affecting a particular breed, dressing appropriately for a ring, and forming a deep, complex bond with another living creature.

I do all of this along with pursuing a degree in biology so I can *gasp* become a veterinarian, as well as running cross country at a division one school.

Please tell me if I fit your description of "most girls."

From everything I've seen SummerRiot post, she hardly fits the description either.

Wel said tempura tantrum. Although Jazz is my first show dog, I have Emma, who I do agility with and am working on obediance. I take my breeder's dogs to handling class if he cant make it, just so I can get the experiance. I work hard with them and I handle them in shows if I am needed. I will owner/handle Jazz even if it takes me 2 yrs to get her Ch. Did I mention I have lived on my own for 2 years, I pay all dog expesnes, rent, food, ect.. on my own with no help from my parents. I work full time, usually 12hr shifts and am going to school part time.

Now I have Jazz who will be doing aglity, conformation and obediance or Shutzhund.

"Most girls" my age aren't devoting their free time to learning about coat-color inheritance, genetic diseases affecting a particular breed, dressing appropriately for a ring, and forming a deep, complex bond with another living creature
Amen.

You know how old I am? Im 20! As Im sure you can tell I am very imature.

So dont come down to "our" level of maturaty and say we are all imature. If we were all so imature I dont think I would be doing EMS do you?

I also HATE when people stereotype age.
MOST 14 going on 15 girls are off shopping, desperately searching for new BF's, putting on makeup, or doing drugs and getting into trouble.
Then there is me, who spends all my time and money with my dog. I get told all the time that I should be interested in other things, am told to get a life... Yada yada.. But no. My dog comes first.

I feel HORRIBLE for you Riot, because my neighbour has a dog who is literally allergic to EVERYTHING. If he manages to get even a crumb of human food or any type meat other then venison then he will be puking all day. Best of luck and hopefully he wont loose too much hair. Again, I would write a FRIENDLY yet to the point letter (keep a copy for legal issues later if they pop up) and give it to the offending neighbours.

I hope Riot will be ok, I understand your frustration. Its almost time for show season and it would be terrible if Riot could not participate because of some children who were not tuaght better.

Casablanca, how dare you say that ALL girls in their 20s are immature. I am 16 years old and far from immature. Just because people show their dogs does not mean they don't care for them.

I plan on showing my GSD, but that is not my motivation for getting him. I do showing (all kinds, conformation, agility, tracking ect.) for fun, not for points (aothough that is a bonus). If my dog's hair fell out because of someone messing with my dog, I would be furious. SummerRiot, there is no need to apologize, just explain your concerns. I hope Riot will be ok.

The ridiculously overwrought responses here are not exactly disproving my theory. Throwing tantrums, flying into quick rages and otherwise behaving like drama queens is classic teenager/early 20's behavior.

As for the women 30+, well, some women do remain mentally and emotionally in their early twenties well past the time their bodies have moved into another decade.

LOL. You're something else Casablanca.

You insult our integrity and intelligence. You make a rash generalization about an entire age category of people, giving no thought to the individuality of the members here (which last time I checked was pretty *classically* immature behavior), and then when people come up with EXAMPLES to disprove you, you get huffy, tell us all that our responses are filled with rage or overwraught (please re-read my post dear, it's quite calm and matter-of-fact).

Sounds to me like your annoyed with having to face your own petty/rude/childish mistake.

I believe it may be *your* turn to step up, behave like an adult, and apologize. But perhaps I'm holding *you* to a standard of behavior too high by hoping for this?

This quote is dripping with so much irony, that it's pointless to go on. I'll just let it speak for itself.

It's funny how so many of our younger members manage to conduct themselves much more maturely then our olders. Seems to be the pattern on Chaz :D

i don't no why she was having ago at Riot
shes like one of the nicest people on here (ONE OF MANY)

and i think that a coat is a very big deal for a show dog, unless she wants to start showing a belgian hairless lol! (not likely)

I don't quite get why age suddenly came into this, but since everyone is saying their age, i'm 14 lol!

To clear up a point - yes, your response was quite calm and well-argued. It was not a tantrum. I was, in that point, talking about other people.

Casablanca, you are very strange. I think you need to hop down off you pedastle before you fall off.

I sincerely hope that Riot will be okay, there is nothing worse than dealing with an allergy animal. {{{HUGS}}}

Tempura... *glomps* Fabulous posts, I couldn't agree more.

Casablanca, I.. don't even know where to begin. Yes, I'm a kid and I do take comments like that seriously. I am not "most kids" and loathe being thrown into that category. And since when does age equal maturity? The minute a person turns 30, they're suddenly wonderful and intelligent? Puh-lease.
You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it may be - but I think the fact that a lot of the "immature kids" here are handling your offensive and generalizing statements with tact says a LOT about them. Perhaps you can't see past the age and realize that people like Summer, Tempura, Tucker and Pixiesticks are extremely mature and wise beyond their years.

Summer- Poor Riot! I hope he didn't get too much of it. Bait proofing does sound like a good idea.

Age does not equal maturity RD which has been proven here in this thread. ;)
