Cannot stand those horns... I have to watch it on mute... Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! That's all i can focus on when i don't mute it!
OMG, I am so with you on that! I HATE the sound the vuvuzelas make. Holy moly, that is so annoying. Sounds like there are a bazillion mosquitos over the stadium.

I'm still shocked over the Algerian player that slapped a woman in the face
yeah wtf. I just love that she punched him back & did more damage to him!!

Apparently they have a "history"...she leaked news of his marriage to a French woman or something.

Not that it makes it ok to randomly slap people you don't like, haha

not my thing but i don't begrudge it to anyone. whats silly is that i enjoy watching hockey & lacrosse which moves along similarly to soccer. i also like playing water polo. with all that you'd think i'd dig soccer but it just doesn't do it for me.

Total thread jack, but I was watching some youtube videos and noticed a little soccer ball on the player. Of course I had to click on it and it turns out it's a vuvuzela button. Now you can ruin your youtube experience with the sound of a vuvuzela! People at youtube definitely have a sense of humor.

Soccer is a HUGE ordeal here in Germany :p When Germany plays the streets are pretty much EMPTY. :yikes: I only watch Germany's games - the others don't really interest me much :) Even if I don't understand the rules.
The US lost their last game against Ghana, so I THINK you guys are out. From now on, every team that loses is out of the world cup.
Germany plays against England in 2 hours :D :D

Soccer is one of the few sports I can stand to watch... although yeah fakers are a pain, and I think it would be more fair if they timed the interruptions instead of just adding a random time at the end of the match (although maybe they've changed that since I last watched it).

But at least there are things going on all the time, not like football...

If you want to experience why soccer can be fascinating, watch the GER-ENG game that's on right now.

I am going to have an effing heart attack by the time the game will be over.

Football has a lot more strategy to it than just kicking a ball around. There's a lot more depth to it on why you'd want to do certain things at certain times. I guess it's a bit slower, but much more entertaining.

Been watching the Germany vs England game and so far they've just been going back and forth up and down the field with no one even getting close to scoring (other than the 2-1 that's already happened at this point). But we're some 55 minutes in with 3 goals. Whoo, one goal every 20 minutes! Exciting!

So does soccer. Have you ever played it in a competitive league?

We plan plays and sequences of passes, plan where we want our players to be on the field, who certain people should cover. On throw ins and corner kicks you have to have your players strategically placed to optimize the chances you'll get possession of the ball and get it to the goal (especially in the case of corner kicks).

It's not just kicking a ball around.

No not really, I just don't see the game as that much fun to watch. The most exciting thing all game happened some 70 minutes in. I don't want to have to wait an hour and 10 minutes just to get excited about something. Maybe I'm ADD.

Oh but I'll give soccer this: has some very hot fans. The Uruguay girl, Italian girl, and just saw a smokin' German girl.

Oh, one more thing: go Germany!

It's a good game... I have to watch to determine what my day will be like. My boss's husband is a purebred Englishman, can you guess how his mood is going to be if England loses? Lol
