I was 12 or 13. We'd never had a dog. Walking home from the bus stop with my sister walking across the street. She stopped and started yelling about a dog while pointing to some shubbery in front of me. A small dog trotted out, I was laughing at my sister. A LARGE GSD followed and ran straight at me, I turned to run and he/she got me in the lower back an inch or so from my spine. Definately broke the skin, several large punctures. I was told the dog was put down the next day.

I have been bit by many.

My aunt had 2 dogs 9at the time, she always had many dogs when i was young) I was 4 or 5 9so it was 89 or 90) I was sitting with her 2 dogs a pitbull and a chi. Want to guess who bit me and went crazy? That stuipd chi. Even the pitull took of running when the chi went nuts, I didnt have a chance from the 5lbs monster lol. I still have the scar under my eye from it.

Then another time I was about 10ish walking hoem fromt he mall with my friend and a pom came out bit us then procedded to chase us. We hid in a baseball diamond that had gates. And yelled for help until soem one found us

Another time by american eskimos, many times. My stupid neighboors had 2 they were evil. And would always chase me and try and bite me andmy dogs.

My friend lived ona farm. i went to the barn to see the horses and cow and ducks. The farm dog, which wasnt theirs. There was 2 homes on the same property. It was some aussiemix. And it ran after me and my friend and bit our legs. When I would go there my friend would have to open the house door for me so i could run from the car tot he house, while the dog chased me. crashing in tot he house door as we closed it on it. I was so happyw hen my friend told me that it died. I finally got myself in tot he barn to see the horses lol. but i seen them many times before out int he field. Seems the dog wouldnt chase me out there, as the horses would chase him from me lol.

You would think with all my bad luck with dogs I would hate them lol

At the agility nationals last year a BC/Golden lunged and snarled at me. Luckily, the guy managed to yank it back before it got me.

Then he goes on to say...

"...Been crated all day..."

Any time I have been bit by an animal, it was because I did something dumb.

At the humane society there was a dog with really bad front legs. Some sort of injury or something. Well I went to change his bedding and give him a nice fluffy pillow because I liked him and wanted him to be comfortable. Well when I pulled up the blanket I didn't realize that part of it was tucked under his painful front legs as he stood there and he lunged right at me and bit my left thumb and my hand. Punctured it pretty good, right in the webbing of skin between the thumb and pointer finger. No stitches though. They were going to put him down until I convinced them that it was entirely my fault. He was a Chow/Keeshond type of mix.

I was scratched pretty good right above my eye by a Rott pup when I was little. The neighbors across the street had 2 of the meanest Rotts and the meanest Doberman chained up to a shed all the time in their back yard. When they had puppies, they didn't bother to chain up the puppies. All the pups disappeared except this one who always came over. He was really sweet and playful and liked to jump up on you. Eventually they began chaining him up and he became mean Rottie number three chained up to their shed. Then one day they all disappeared.

I was also bit by a feral cat because I stupidly reached for her. And numerous other cats in my rescuing adventures.

I was bit by my uncles pitbull a long long time ago. When I was little I stepped on his tail. Snoopy wasn't aloud around the kids after that because he didn't want to take any chances. He was already a moody dog though I would say that was my fault and not the dogs. Didn't turn me off pitbulls though. His other two were my bestfriends growing up.

I've never been bitten. When I was little I had a cocker grab onto my socks.. the 80's neon kind w/the lace and drag me around the room. The cocker then proceeded to go over to my little brother and bite him in the diaper :yikes: ... so for about a month I was afraid of dogs. But I've never been bitten where it broke the skin or I was hurt :)

Absolutely -- I'm a dog groomer, I'm bit almost every day! Most "nips" I get are from shih tzus, most full-blown "I'm going to kill you" attacks are from golden retrievers.

When I was a little kid, I ignored my grandmother's warnings about getting in her pekingese's face... so he ended up biting me in the face lmfao... I never got in his face again!

About two years ago, I was in Florida, at this lady's house who had a rottie... and the rottie walked up and bit me right on the butt... I was more surprised than anything... it didn't even break the skin, and the lady responded to it by hitting her dog, which I highly doubt made any difference in the future. >9.9<

Those are the only two times I've truely been bitten that I recall... I had a neighbor's two little dogs run and attack my pant legs a couple months back, but I wouldn't call that a bite lol...

I have been bitten twice.

Once when I was younger, I got bite in the face by, knock on wood, a female Rottweiler. lol. But it didnt deture me!

And once a couple years ago from my fila at the time that was going after someone else's hand , and I stuck my hand between him. Not a smart move, to say the least.

Both times, MY fault. Not the dogs.

Looks like a few others have been bitten by GSD's :yikes: While I love the breed finding a good quality breeder is a must these days because of the issues these dogs can have both temperament and health wise. I forgot that most recently about a year and a half ago I was bitten by a GSD when he was tied out in front of a local coffee shop. A big German bred "intact" male who's owner I knew and I also was aware of the issues he was having with his dog. "Major aggression issues" with other dogs but as he was reaching sexual maturity and two years old he really turned for the worst. I was walking right by the dog and I just said "hi Kane" but he lunged at me and grabbed my hand  I stayed off to the side until John came out of the coffee shop to tell him what his dog did to me. He then told me that he went after one of his girlfriends friends and her mother. He told me he was thinking about getting rid of him because he was becoming a liability. He had also attacked 3 dogs and John was getting sick of paying other peoples vet bills. He really had no idea what he had gotten himself into to with this dog and wasn't willing to get him fixed and work with a reputable trainer so he did end up placing the dog. Thank god! He had gotten many complaints to the city about his dog and was deemed dangerous. People would avoid walking by the house in case the dog got loose such as busting through the front glass door which is how one of the dog attacks happened  .

Yes at the age of 5 I was attacked by the neighbors GSD. The owner beat it off me with a broom and my father grabbed a shovel and beat it nearly to death. End result is that I lost most of the vision in my right eye and had many bites requiring many stitches. At the age of 14 again a friends GSD who had been around me a lot for no reason attacked me when I was leaving and bit my leg and arm. My son and daughter were both bitten by friends GSDs and that is the main reason I do not care for them. I owned one once myself and at the age of two years for no reason it bit my neighbor. Shortest amount to time I ever owned a dog. Just do not care for or trust the breed. Even now when I have a rescue if it is a GSD I refuse to handle it and will not home one with children.
Sorry you have had such bad experiences, but I have a GSD (he's a mix) and he is a very sweet boy who would never bite anyone. Maybe for some reason the bad German Shepherds are just drawn to you?

I have only been bitten by a dog once and it was really nothing. It was the first day I had Casper (a foster dog). He had jumped on the couch with a pig ear I had given him. I was trying to get him off the couch when I decided to take the pig ear and put it on the ground so he knew what I wanted him to do. When I took his pig ear away from him, he got me. It wasnt bad at all though, it just really hurt. He never acted like that again, I am sure it was just the stress of being in a new place, exc. Despite that, he continues to be one of my favorite fosters.

Yes, cat bites hurt pretty badly. I stupidly decided to give my cats a bath not too long ago, one of them (who absolutly despises water) dug his fang into my hand for about 10 seconds. It was the longest 10 seconds ever, I didnt think that cat was ever going to let go! It was soooo painful, needless to say he wins, he wont ever get a bath from me again.

I have been bit by many.

My aunt had 2 dogs 9at the time, she always had many dogs when i was young) I was 4 or 5 9so it was 89 or 90) I was sitting with her 2 dogs a pitbull and a chi. Some lady yesterday was telling me how her Yorkie ran 2 full grown labs off the other day.

When I was about 9 I was charged by a huge angry St. Bernard. He knocked me down and stood over me for what seemed like forever, thankfully he never bit.

I have been bitten several times doing service work on peoples homes. I always told people that I love dogs but they dont understand the machinery and noises that come from it and it makes some nice dogs mean. They always say back "oh, he would never bite anyone". It wasnt until I added that "I love dogs, but if I am bitten, I will defend myself." Then for their dogs safety they lock them up...Jerks.

It's funny several mention GSDs. I don't know anyone now who has one but the ones I have known were either sweet as they come or nasty as they come. In Tosca's advanced training class there were two. One was very well behaved and the other one went after every dog in the room including Tosca, who asked for it because I was dumb enough to let her. The one thing I noticed though was that the owner of the well behaved one had really good control over the dog and the dog seemed to totally respond to her. The other one was on the other end of a leash held by a real boob who didn't seem to have any relationship with the dog at all. Little eye contact, very little Good Boy or positive encouragement going on. Tosca was the younger dog in the room and these two shepards were about a year old, and I thought Whoa, I am not going to let Tosca Rule like this guy is doing with his shepard. I felt in this case, it was more the owner than the breed. I would imagine, though, that since GSDs are so popular, God only knows who is breeding them and how. It's what happens when a dog gets popular, as we all know. I can't imagine why anyone would buy a dog with the potential of a shepard and not pay attention to who is breeding the dog they are getting--and then not pay attention to good training besides. Very stupid. I got charged by a white GSD when I was coming out of an office building a few years ago. The brain dead owners had him off leash and were just yelling. Fortunately, the dog decided not to eat me, for some odd reason and just turned around and left me. I had the distinct feeling it was his decision, not the two idiots who were screaming at him.

I am a bite paranoid because I know that Tosca is a herder and likes to round up kids and nip in the butt and things when she plays. So I am extremely careful whose kids I let play with her and in what way. You all know how a Collie has no qualms about taking chase at a running kid. Fun Fun Fun! for her. Even that kind of nip can be taken seriously by someone who would see it as a bite, not to mention the chase. She certainly keeps MY butt and the cats' butts moving in the house when she's frisky, let me tell you. But she has a huge affinity for kids and they have one for her--and I have to watch it all the time. So I have learned that when somebody says Ohhhhh What a cute dog and Tosca responds happily, I am not going to let much happen beyond a head pet. I just don't trust the judgement of others around my dog. Those who know who Lassie was, automatically think Tosca knows what Lassie knew. That's a real cross.

I was bitten by my grandma's medium sized dog when I was about 9-10....it was a mutt I think. Sort of looked like a grey "Benji", but a little taller. I always played with this dog and I thought we were pals, but I guess it wasn't in the mood one day and snapped at my face. I still have a little scar on my upper lip. Of course my mom freaked out, she has always been very frightened of dogs (she has never been bitten)

Tosca, I have also been bitten by an angry cat while trying to help it get free from being tangled in twine. I was 17, and the cat,a stranger to me, was outside yowling. I went out to see, and it was tangled and hung up in the fence. I was almost done getting it loose and it decided I wasn't going fast enough and bit me right through the palm of my right hand!! OOOOWWW, it hurt worse than a dog bite! Swelled up too.....apparently cat bites are extremely toxic.

When i was 12, my best friend at the time had two dogs. One was a schnauzer and one was a mutt. the first time i went to her house, i stuck my hand through the fence to pet the schnauzer (she had told me the mutt was mean) and the mutt came through the dogdoor into the yard and bit my hand. I didn't think anything much of it, it was my fault. After i got properly introduced, every time i went over the mutt was in my lap.

I have only had one severe bite and that was from a GSD mix at work. To this day I don't know what set him off, but he lunged at me, tore through my jeans and clamped down on my leg. Thank DOYC that I was able to kick him off of me and slam the kennel door in between us. If that door hadn't been there, he may have been able to knock me down and things could have been much worse.
That was my only bite, but I did have my nose broken by a pit bull. The entire shelter was in an uproar.

I was never bitten (thank goodness!)-- but clearly recall the day when I was aobut 6 yo, and my sister was 7 yo--we went to the neighbors house to see if they wanted to play--no one home, but Blackie--their hughe (in my childhood memory!) black GSD lunged at us and chased us all the way home---I think we never ran as fast as we did that day!! And we never said a word to anyone about it--just jumped on our swing set and "swung away" our post tramatic stress!!! Today we laugh about it--but that dog could have had us for breakfast (and lunch!--URP)

Other than puppy nips, I have never been bitten by a dog.

I do remember however one time my family and some friends were at a lake and one of the boys that was a little older than me got bit in his stomach, I believe by a pit bull. He had to go to the doctor and get stitches. I know they talked to the owner cuz I remember him being covered in lots of tattoos, however I don't know if anything ever came of it or not.
