i realise you want to show your yorkie, but do you realise how much work is put into showing, u have to teach her to stack, show gait stuff like that,

plus even getting a ch for a good dog isnt that easy

is it conformation you plan to title her in?

also what champions does she have in her pedigree?
Hi, yes i realize it's going to be hard....i plan on just showing her in jouniors though....since i'm only 15 (in a few weeks)....I really wanted to title her, but I was misinformed by my breeder about age-18. Yes, I planned on showing her in Conformation before. We don't have her pedigree back yet-papers just sent in, but I know that she has some red on both sides, and her Grand Dad was a Grand Champ. I belive that the breeder said that her dad's side was almost all red, so sounds promising, but we'll see when the papers come. She's got really good conformation, and it's a shame I can't title her. Her bite is amazing. JDthepug told me that by the time dogs are 3-4 they are retiring from the show-ring, and by the time I'm 18, she'll be that old.....It's set me back, but I think I'm going to breed her to a CH. titled male, and keep a pup to show. If I had the money to hire a handler I'd do it because Dixie is so gorgeous....

Pretty much ;) Basically the registry just allows BYBers to say their pups have "papers" and are "registered" (giving impresion that the pups are registered by the AKC or CKC or FCI or any registry with as much respect) which also makes their pups sound better so they can jump the price even more.
Thanks! I agree, we're not going to send the papers in...:)

Hi, this was the 1st time I tried to stack her-I don't have my mentor yet, we're still looking-so she was a little nervous, and she was kinda hunching over a little, so her top-line looks kinda off, but it's actually fairly nice in person. I don't have her free stacking yet-as you can tell ;) this was my first *real* time to hand stack her. :) Also, I couldn't get her to stand there for too long (my mom was vacuuming, and Lucy was having a fit, and barking at the vacuum) so these really aren't great. I'll try and get some better ones on here though by tomorrow if possible. Let me get these to photobucket, I'll be right back...

Finally! lol! I'm sorry they aren't great...I will definately have better ones soon. She didn't have her bath Monday, and she was distracted, but bathe her tomorrow, and try to get her in a quiet room for better pix. :)

She tried pulling away-her first time being stacked-I'm not good at it, and need to learn how to properly do it....

She was distracted and looking at Lucy on the floor.

I can't find anywhere that it says that you have to be 18 to show in regular classes. I've seen quite a few juniors handling dogs in regular classes. One in particular that stands out is a friend's 8 yr old daughter, who handled another friend's Collie to a Group 4. Double check the regulations. You should still be able to show her if she's competitive.

Seriously? I haven't PMed Dixie back because I'm still trying to get a hold of someone - but when I first started, everyone said I had to go into juniors, even a judge. Like I said, I could have avoided so much humiliation and trouble LOL.

Could it be that that was a *recommendation* instead of a rule? The girl I mentioned did this recently (actually handled the dog in question on many occasions) and no one, including the judges, have said anything. I know that I was showing before I was 18, but that was the 70s-80s. I can't imagine that many judges (at least 5 that I can think of) would overlook it if it were a rule.

Not questioning you, and if someone was 8 I'm pretty sure the judges would have stepped in if it wasn't allowed. :p I've always assumed it was required.

If that's the case - then I say go for it (to Dixie's mom), just don't forget a mentor is the best thing you can look for right now, not sure if there's any Yorkie clubs in TN. I've been trying to get a hold of someone with no luck.

Wow! That's awesome news!!!! :) Thanks so much to you both! We're looking around for mentors, but haven't seen one yet...do they basically just help you 1-on-1 with stacking, handling, and getting them to gait, and stand correctly? I may be able to go to a local show, and find a handler who could help me out....I'll keep looking online though first. Thanks again!! :)

Dixie... I'm surprised the breeder didn't give you a full copy of all known pedigrees . What papers are you waiting for ??

We sent in the AKC papers, and that comes with a 3 generation pedigree. I believe she has one that goes farther back than that, that she offered me. I think I'll get her to mail it too me. :)
