I think it would be good to start off as a transportation network and go from there.

I'd be more than happy to volunteer to help transport in the northern NY area even up to Ontario. :)

I think that we should do a new thread... and maybe everyone that was willing to transport/hold over night could post in there, and give a general area were they are, and how far they could drive

I can do around Atlanta GA transport. Up to Chattanooga if needed, down to Columbus if needed, some areas of AL as well. Not much farther than a few hours one way though.

I can foster short term, but no intact males. Neutered is fine, as well as unspayed females, but I've got an intact female and only so many crates.

Unfortunately, I can't help with the money thing.

Yeah overnight stays are a no-can-do here, at least with some breeds... we have BSL where I live (no Dobes, Rotts, Pitbulls/Amstaffs/EBT's, or chows allowed other than what I already have) I imagine it wouldn't be an issue for a non-banned dog to spend the night though. I'm close to Syracuse, NY & Kingston, ONT. I have room to seperate just about anybody so DA dogs are cool to stay with me.

You seem to be a large part of the creation of this project, so why don't you start that new thread and we'll sticky it? :)

this.

The more organized we are, the better. I think we should map it out -- and then have a list on a spreadsheet (or similar) of Who can do What and Where they are located and contact info so that people can be contacted faster maybe. Other than PMs on here. Of course, it could be their choices of what information is contacted. For example, I dont want a bunch of random people to have my phone number, but I wouldn't mind one main person to have it, but I do get e-mails on my phone and I don't mind sharing that :p ;)

I am in central NC. I am a screened and approved transport/overnight volunteer for another breed specific rescue group. I am willing to do the same for The Chazhound Rescue Relay Group. (do we have a name yet?)

I would be available for transport in the Minnesota, some Wisconsin areas. How far would depend on when it was happening and what kind of cash flow I had at the time. Don't think Gunnar would appreciate any overnighters though.

Is there any way to pull part of this thread to be made into another, so maybe more people will see it?? Just wondering.

I am also screened and approved for another breed specific rescue group (Cherished Cockers) as well. I am willing to transport, overnight, and foster (depending on a few things; like if I already have a foster, if the dog doesn't get along with other dogs, etc). I can make phone calls or e-mails, if needed, as well.

edit: Thanks Renee!!

I'd be available (depending on what is going on at the time in my life) to help transport from the area of Sandpoint Idaho to Spokane Washington or even down into south eastern Wa. or from north Idaho to the east toward Montana or north to the Canadian border or further south within Idaho. Ideally, to be able to keep it down to a couple of hours either direction so a round trip could be made in a day, not over night.

I can't help with transport, because my vehicle is on it's last leg apparently, but I can offer a place to stay for human and dog alike if anyone is coming through the area. Corvus doesn't like most other dogs, but we can deal with that for a night or two. He's had to deal with it before, and we all survived.

And althought it's been a while, I used to be an area coordinator for our dane rescue...so I'm experience with well, coordinating. :p

I'm able to do some of the dirty work such as screening and phone calls for checking references if we do end up taking dogs in and adopting out in the future.

I'm especially good with fund-raising and bartering for deals from businesses if we run into that down the line.

So, my help is offered. Just point me in whatever direction it's needed and I'll put my heart and soul into it.
