I'm not sure which I'd go with...saying "Pyr Sheepdog" sort of reinforces the GP double image because sheep are white...and people are dumb. Just say "Pyrenean".

I've learned to say "Aussie" for Sawyer and then follow it up with "sort of like a Border Collie" if someone doesn't know what I'm talking about. That was probably the dumbest person I've ever dealt with though, the one who was trying to tell me I was going to hvae a problem owning a "shepherd".

Good luck!

You could always say the dog is a mix of some sort. We have a boxer/lab mix *cough, cough, APBT* at my complex.

I know that as soon as you say "terrier" at the complexes around here they assume it's a bully breed. I would steer clear of using the word "shepherd" for the same reason. People assume that any shepherd is a GSD for some reason.

Oh, and congrats on the possible new addition!

Might not be a bad idea. "I don't know what she is, she's a rescue" and show the picture.

Seriously, my apartment didn't care one bit. I had to fill out the form and write her weight down, and her breed. For Lucy, I just put "mutt". The lady looked at and signed the form without question. Management didn't meet her until several weeks after we brought her home.

I've never heard of GSDs being restricted. where I live pits and staffies are "controlled" until extinct, and when the last one in the province dies, no more will be allowed.
but I would like to own a presa one day. I've done a great deal of research, and have no doubt that I could make him a good canine citizen. presas are not even acknowledged here, so there is no restriction on having one. but if I ever did get one, if asked the breed, I would just say that it's a "brindle presa". which no one will understand....
