Thanks everyone, the clerk basically said, register her to a different family member and they'll never be able to prove that she's mine, so I guess that's what I'm doing!

And I'm going to go talk to my neighbors to see what the deal is, or what about it that they don't like exactly. Wish me luck!

Just wondering, what breed of dog your 4th one is? Only 3 pounds for full weight! Even Chi's can get up to 6 pounds.

Let us know how it turns out!

Jess, I think she said she thought she could get a special license or something.

Well, the way she's being a problem is by taking a situation that doesn't concern her one bit and talking about it. My dogs are never left outside unattended, don't bark all day and night, are clean, friendly, well behaved. They never step foot onto her property and every time I leave the house for more than one hour, they are being watched by family or a puppy sitter. So, the only way she would even know I had one dog over the limit is because she saw it, not because it did a thing to her, her property, or was a nuisance in any way to her.

I was told by the city that I would be able to get a special permit because I plan to train her as a therapy dog, then AFTER I got the puppy was told that I was not in a zoned area that would allow the special permit, so I DID do my research on the matter. I was given misinformation and that, is the problem.

Plus, the 3 dog limit, in my opinion is ridiculous. It does nothing for the city whatsoever.. it's a completely arbitrary number picked out of the air, and I'd really love to know how someone is supposed to know all of these small rules w/o calling the city on EVERY minuscule question. I care for my dogs better than a lot of people care for their children, and they have the best of everything. I'm the most responsible pet owner that I know, and it makes me sick to my stomach that I have to worry about this constantly.

I'm not aiming this directly at your statement.. but some rules are ridiculous and I tried to follow the system and do everything legally and it did not pan out. I'm prepared to take full legal action if the city tries to tell me I have to find her a new home -- I've read of a few court cases that were won because the city could not provide WHY the number they picked led to the safety of the people in the city.

She is a yorkie. The parents weighed in at 3.5 lbs for the male and 5 lbs for the mother. The breeder said that she'd be shocked if my puppy got more than 3 lbs, although because I free feed.. I could see her getting up to 4. She just went to the vet today for her distemper and her weight was 2.4 lbs on a full tummy at 3 months.

I would just be as nice as possible to my neighbors if I were you, and not make a big scene with the dogs. Most people think all small and furry dogs look alike... because they don't pay much attention. I know someone with 7 big dogs, and only 3 dogs are allowed in her HOA. She hasn't gotten caught yet.

My Rylie weighed 1.8lbs at 13 weeks of age... and is almost 4lbs full grown. With toy breeds, a good weight estimate is to take the 13 weeks of age weight and multiply it by 2. It is only an estimate, though. Chloe was around 2'ishlbs at 12 weeks of age, and is almost 6lbs full grown (her mom weighed 6lbs, and her dad weighed 5lbs). Puppies all grow at different stages, and the end results can be surprising.
