I love that blue pit bull BlueMolosser! ADORABLE!
One, they do show those dogs, but not in true APBT shows. In fact, they've had to make up their own shows in order to do so.

Second, it's NOT a "pit bull". It's a mutt riding the coattails of the "pit bull" name.

And thanks to whoever commented on my dog. Her name is Miakoda, she's 3 years old...almost 4, & she is my pride & joy. I took many years of a carefully thought out breeding to produce her.....& she & all her siblings are wonderful examples of the APBT.

Pick up a copy of Dog Fancy magazine (or any US dog mag) and look in the back at the Classifieds, under APBT. You will see pictures of dogs that are extraordinary - substantially wider, even, than those pics. I couldn't believe it when I saw them - they are like the dog-creature in that Ghost Busters movie.

(e.g. These guys advertise:
http://www.castlekingkennel.com/
http://www.untouchabullpits.com/breedings_2.htm
http://www.komonstersquad.com/html/image7.htm (5 week old pup!)
http://www.komonstersquad.com/html/55.html
http://www.komonstersquad.com/html/182.htm )

Ugh... breeders like this make me sick. I am so sick of the "massive head, massive chest, 'queens look like kings'" moron breeders. It is so stupid.

They are not being bred to look like APBTs. Pits aren't supposed to be that broad or that short legged, or that... well anything. The head type is wrong, the body type is wrong, etc etc. They simply breed for size. Pit bulls are not supposed to be huge dogs. They're strong and muscular, but not stocky like that. Pits to me should look athletic and those dogs look like they can hardly do anything...

They're a designer dog alright. The designer dog for men who feel inadequate.

EDIT: Oh and those APBTs look amazing! :D

I love standard American Bulldogs, like Chance in Homeward Bound! :] there is a white AB puppy with one blue eye who is always at the dog park, and he's adorable & totally sweet.

Those "APBT's on steroids" look like they're half English Bulldog. super scary.

I agree those are pretty dogs, but IMO, they are not the APBT that I like. They are AmStaffs dual registered as APBTs in the UKC. And that makes them Staffs.

I prefer the ADBA standard as it has stuck closest to the original working dog.

Many times the only difference in adba show dogs and ukc show dogs is the condition of the dog. The adba likes the leaner look, the ukc likes the heavier look. The only difference is a few pounds. There are many dogs that have championed out in both ukc and adba. The only difference is when they showed adba they lost a few pounds.
Just one opinion of one person, if a person is a dog judge they should judge the quality of the dog and not the condition. The dog stays the same. You can feed a little more or a little less, it will not change the quality of the dog.
I owned a ukc and adba champion. When I showed ukc he got a little more to eat. When I showed adba he was on a diet. If I tried to show in ukc when he was a little leaner he would not win. If I tried to show in adba when he was heavier he didn't win. Conditioning was the only difference in the dog, just a few pounds in either direction made the difference in a winning dog.
