I'm sorry I really don't know these breeds well enough to label.....I just went by the caption and the mass of quills.
Bubbatd...you are NOT the one to blame as I said in my post. I have had this forwarded to me many times with the Pitbull label smacked on it. Please don't think I pointed the finger at you or Richie. I guess I could calm down a little, afterall the dog is full if quills and rather hard to identify LOL!!...sorry

Yah... the very first sentence in the website says:

"What happens when a pitbull picks a fight with a porcupine?"

Looked like a Porcupine Terrier, to me :p Hey! Idea for a new designer dog!! LOL.

Terriers will be Terriers. They don't give up, no matter how much it hurts. Poor pup, doing his job, going after vermin and ended up being a pincushion. He'll either avoid porcupines like the plague now or declare total war on them - that's the Terrier way :D

I'd bet the porcupine didn't survive the encounter . . .

Holy Corolla! You just have to wonder though, how long did that dog keep going after the porqupine to end up with THAT many quills? That takes some effort!

I hear porqupine is quite tasty to eat though.

Yup, that's a terrier for you. No common sense. LOL.

Glad the dog is okay though.

my guess is that the dog was in the back yard, probably sent out to do his business, and found the porcupine. typical terrier, probably thought "what are you and why are you in my yard? I guess I'll check you out and decide if you need to die" got smacked once and typical terrier, decided it had to die. but I imagine the porcupine got away, probably when the owners heard the yelps and violent growls, dragged the dog away. looks like a bull terrier (spuds mckenzie, target dog)to me, not a pit bull. from what I heard on the news, the dog is going to be okay. but the sad part is as a terrier, he probably didnt learn his lesson and wont think twice about repeating it with the next poci he meets :)

Im on another forum, non dog, and a member there says he goes to the same vet as that dogs owner. on that site he said this about the dog...
Female bull terrier named Inga. Porcupine is dead, these pictures are at the vets, just before the long costly removal period. Dog is doing OK, is on antibiotics, and tongue is really swollen and still can't close her mouth. Eyes are OK, and had to have several stiches even between her toes which you can't see. Her boyfriend pitbull was smarter and only got a few quills.
I cant vouche for wether this is true or not, but seems beleivable.

Why are people blaming the owner? It's not like she GAVE the porcupine to the dog to use as a play toy. hind sight is 20/20
