Anyone know of any good pit bull breeders? I am just interested in the breed and I might even go buy one in the future. My future rottie needs a friend:) .It is hard for me to find a good one, because every time I do a search for a breeder I see breeders who make stupid comments like... "huge 25 inch head", "125 pounds!", "great guard dog", "the biggest pits in America", and "Widest shoulders you will ever find!". I just cant seem to find a responsible breeder.

I would search for an American Staffordshire terrier. There are tons of really good reputable breeders in that category.

Those big pitbulls are usually not pure breed even though they are sold that way. They usually have another breed bred into their lines as pitbulls are not that big. You do have to be careful as there are many backyard breeders out there.

Check out Amber-Lite kennels... I have had brief correspondence in the past with Carol (when I say past, I mean like 10 or more ago). Here's a link to their site...http://www.amberlitekennels.com/
The dog in the middle of the front page is Bogan and the most beautiful Pit I think I've ever seen... Her pups aren't cheap at all, but I think she sets her price so high, 1 because she has gorgeous animals and 2 to ward off those who are interested in her dogs for less than good reasons...

it IS hard to find a breeder that does things right in this breed - breeds a standard dog with proper temperament, working ability, healthy, etc.

one of the best breeders i have found:

So why are you thinking of getting one? im not trying to be rude but it seemed before that you had a problem with the breed. pit bulls arent just for anyone you need lots of experience with one you need lots of time and comitment cause they arent mean unless you teach them to be. and with the 25 inch head and stuff there just saying maybe how big the puppies heads would be at full grown....

I dont have a problem with any breed, I have a problem with irresponsible owners and breeders. Why do you think I have a problem with pit bulls? I am aware that a pit owner needs experience, and that is exactly what I have! I have owned large breeds including a rottie, chow, and a german shepherd. When a pit breeder says that thier dogs are huge and have 25 inch heads, they are not responsible! pits are not supposed to be big. I know exactly what makes a dog aggressive, and it has a lot more to do with other factors than just what you teach it.

well before if seemed like you had a problem with the breed and pit bulls arent like rotties, chows or german shepherds they are really different than those breeds i think you should also get a dog from a shelter at least younger or about 1 years old because its better then just buying a puppy and letting other pit bulls get euthinized i think you should go to a rescue you know there are alot of rescue places here in arizona. and maybe with the expericence part maybe you should hang be around pitbulls more and see how you like them ( look in a rescue place and spend time with him/her so you can see how you like them )

Why do you want a puppy? Whats wrong with an older dog? Or a dog over the age of 1 year?
its just my personal preference, I like to start off with a fresh dog who hasnt attained any bad habbits or problems from its previous owners. but i do see your point, older dogs need loving homes too.

I know that every breed is different, but I do have experience. And rotties, chows, and GSDs arent no harder or easyer to own than a pit would be. I have been around pits a lot. Why did it seem like I had a problem with them? was it because i admitted that the breed acounts for a lot of attacks?

You just have to look around and you can find almost anything. I have a rescue contact lined up for when I'm able to get my Rottie, because she gets a fair amount of puppies in...more than you might think.
