On that note. I'm done commenting this thread as obviously, my point is

1- not popular
2- not understood.

I'm not saying I agree with the ban, all I'm saying is I understand the "wicked" rational behind it.

Cheer up...

yes, it's better to leave small or no scars than to disfigure a kid for life.
You think small dogs leave small scars ? There have been cases here where small dogs have bitten children in the face and blinded them !! I have seen pictures of some of these dogs that get lables as pitbulls, and the truth is a majority probably dont have any pitbull in them at all !! How can you ban a breed then back up a ban with a "type" ? Please explain ?

ANY dog can fall into this "type" depending on who looks at the dog ? You could own a pug with a broad head and someone define it as a pitbull "type", or it could be a labrador cross boxer..etc..Crossbreeds are getting labled as pitbulls and all bull breeds are suffering because people cant tell the difference between a pitbull and a crossbreed, how can you base a law on interpritation ? Could you imagine if they judged people the same way ?

I can remember of a Pomeranian killing a baby by ripping into it.All dogs little and big have capability to bite.It is on the owners to train, socialize and remain in control of their dogs.Majority of dog bites are unleashed, uncontrolled dogs.If people just kept better control of their dogs this wouldnt happen.

This springs to mind.:D

First they come for the communists, but i was not a communist- so i said nothing. Then they came for the social democrats, but i was not a social democrat- so i did nothing. Then came the trade unionists, but i was not a trade unionist- so i did nothing. Then they came for the Jews, but i was not a jew- so again i did nothing. Then when they came for me there was nobody left to stand up for me.

The #1 dog for biting is the Golden Retriever (due to bad breeders and bad owners), but its true. Do you see this breed band.. No, because the government doesn't look at statistics.

The Pitty didn't even make top 5...

You know what they are singled out? Because of their locking jaw and bad rep from all the "hoodlems" that feel it necesary to own a "tough looking" breed and teach it to be aggresive!

It is everything to do with bad press and ignorant people, who have probably never even met a Pitbull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier..etc.. let alone had the pleasure of owning one, to see just what wonderful animals they really are.

The lock jaw myth, is infact just that (A myth) They do NOT have lock jaws, they have very strong jaw muscles that can produce enourmous ammonts of pressure. If their jaws locked they would need to dislocate them to put them back into their original place. Thats another thing the press either dont know, or just dont tell people. There has been much talk over "lock jaw" that is just not true. NO Bull breeds lock their jaw :D

It's not pitts that are bad it is the people who exploit them and keep rebreeding the aggressive tendencies into them for fighting-etc.

Underneath it all they are good dogs who just want to be loved, and yes they are very misunderstood.

On the other hand since moving out here to Spokane WA, I have also been attacked by 3 pitts who were going after my pups and one after me.

BUT... I have also rescued one of the sweetest pitts 3 mos ago that got dumped in our alley.

It took me 2 weeks to convince her to come to me!! But with a neighbor's help we got her in our house, fixed her up over the course of a week, and rehomed her.

So I can see both sides...
