See I have a sense of humor. I was not going to let this get me pissy no matter what. ** Walks off saying I will not get pissed to self repeats as nec.**
He can take a three way bulb and the beauty of this is he is self moving on furniture rearranging days lol. He Jess isn't that a " carpet layer " you have there ?? Could have sure used her when I was having the new carpet laid. Do you rent her out ?

I'm glad that Zoey matches the couch... We would have had to take her to the shelter, otherwise!

Hey guys I just had a thought. This will stop all the pit bans.. Actually we should all embrace OC's stance. If they are not working dogs they are not real right ? Ok then when any dog bites us we now need to check their worker status and see if they are real. If not the bite was not real either. Hence no reasons for any more banning. Carry on

I was thinking about this seriously. To me a 'working' dog in it's truest sense is a dog that is absolutely needed for it's owner's livliehood or lifestyle to survive. Most dogs don't do that anymore. Dogs who herd for trials, do weight pull, pull sleds for races, schutzhund, etc don't really count. Those are all hobbies and not any more necessary than a couch potato job. If those things weren't there, the owners would still be just fine.

Now people who need herding dogs every day because they have sheep as a business would have working dogs. Or livestock guardians who do protect their owner's flocks.

So there, I just cleared out about 98% of dogs from being real.

Not that sports and hobbies aren't fun and it's not good to let your dog do what it was bred to do.

I still think she knew what she was doing with her statement. Many people found it offensive. I did for a while, now it just looks childish. Doesn't give off the best image.

So in a sense this means that O C 's dogs are not real either right ??

I see it the exact same way.
It's funny, because I noticed the statement before, too.. and was a little pissy about it... and then I reminded myself that I left Highschool behind already and got a good chuckle out of it.

I have fond memories of a true working dog when I was a child. He was a border collie on my great uncles farm, used to herd sheep. He was a dog of no name, was fed left over table scraps thrown outside and some days went without a meal, I often wondered how he was able to survive. During our summer week visit at my uncle’s I spent 99% of my time familiarizing myself to this dog who at first could only be seen through the fields of hay peeking out of curiosity because he was so afraid of humans.

I was ridiculed by my uncles and the farmhands for the mere mention of giving this dog a place to sleep, regular food and water or even a name, to then he was just a work dog and I was just a foolish 8 year old.

Though how he amazed me when it was time to work. The farmhand would ride towards the sheep in the fields which would signal the dog that it was time to work. I could hear the whistles of command that told him what to do, it was stunning.

I did get him to trust me in the end and he would always come out to play when I was outside alone. What a smart dog and I feel lucky to have had the pleasure to be in the presence of such a smart dog. I remember how he enjoyed playing hide and seek. We would play peek-a-boo by running from opposite sides of the farm house and he would always figure out which side I’d be on.

My heart breaks for that dog, even today. He worked so hard and did an awesome job but was nothing to anyone around him but a piece of farm work. If that’s what a true dog has to do to be one then I’m glade mine aren’t true dogs.
