Mafia I had a nice tank but I really felt as though my cats were pestering the fish. Now I don't know if fish notice that stuff, but I kind of figured if I were a Molly and a cat the size of Brooklyn kept poking at me and chattering in my face, I would probably be a little scared.

Awww, we killed Jo's second betta on accident right after her first one died. Actually the new one was just sickly to begin with. Anyways, we kept her from noticing and replaced it with another blue one. It was bad, but she was so sad. She never noticed, but the replacement has died too.
Aww I'd do the same for a sibling.. It sucks because no matter how small it was yours, and you were taking caring of it, even if the death is an oops or sudden and unpreventable.

That's sweet of you.. Roomie briefly had birds.. Cider kept trying to get on the table and climb the bookshelf to see the cage, I thought they were also having heart attacks. Like many things she decided bad decision and got rid of them (sigh) but I felt bad for them for the same predator prey reasons.

Yea probably not a good idea....I had a guinea pig once and my cat kept vigil on top of the cage day and night, hoping to get in there and have a taste.
I posted on a rat forum asking about this and they assured me the rats would not only adjust, but nip at the cats and scare them off . . . I was like, "I dunno, guys, they avidly stare at rats and gerbils on cat videos and pounce at the screen."

That's right . . . I buy them cat videos. They have me that well-trained.

You probably didnt get a very bright one!:p J/K

I have on female who is very loving, it is not a hard and fast rule, just a general observation.

By the way, did we determine if cats are supposed to have jobs?

and all in one day!

I read the whole thing and hey, it took my mind off my nerves over Auggie being a pukey puppy and over starting a new job tomorrow. At least for the time I slogged through the 33 pages (now I'm back to worrying again.)
That's therapy, right? You guys did a JOB. Good for you! That makes you all REAL.

I know people think birds, rodents, etc. are ok with their cats, but I do feel sorry for them. i just think they have to be on guard all of their lives. I know people see that with dogs and cats, but I don't. I just think a cat can assess and deal with a situation a lot better than a bird or gerbil can. And you can have the forsight to get a dog that isn't known to have a high cat-aggressive drive. Time and again you see families with cats and dogs living together without incident. But a bird in a cage is captive. You leave the house, a cat could get to it or at least work on it and frighten the hell out of the bird.

If we get to post pictures of our decorations doing their jobs, here goes:

The pic is huge, so a link is more appropriate, but it's my little Emma-monster trying to push the door open from the top of the babygate so she can get out. Her job is to cause me as much emotional trauma and worry as possible, while making sure I huff and puff after her! (Well that and making messes... sticking her face inside of your mouth to wake you up... getting her fur between your teeth.. the usual.)

Isn't that existentialism?

Or anti-transcendentalism?

I always get those confused. My AP Lit teacher would skewer me. :D

but what if I dont want to be REAL????
Then I think you plug your ears and go "LA LA LA LA THIS IS NOT REALLY HAPPENING LA LA LA LA."
No, wait, that's escapism...

Well, okay. If you REALLY don't want to be real, I'll wave my pink fairy wand and declare you... um... how does "unreal" sound?

All this talk about "real" reminds me of The Velveteen Rabbit. But what is real? =< =<
