Well since you have some suggestions as to foods I'll just throw out some suggestions as to why she (and any dog) would loose weight eating something like that.
The problem with some foods like EVO if they aren't supplemented is it has a rather high protien content. As Jenn suggested this is great for muscle building, but it's also used in a performance dog/sporting dog because protien is a natural enemy to fat storage.
So if your dog gets a proper amount of excersize a food like EVO is going to do more to trim them down and help burn off fat stores they might have had previously.
I'm a bit shakey on the exactly how this works, but it has to do with protien requiring more calories to break down and raising a dogs metabolism from increased consumption of it.
So your dog will use all the energy from the protiens to repair/build up muscle and perform it's regular functions (breathing etc) that much faster because over time it's metabolic rate has increased.
Works fantastic for a sporting dog/working dog that doesn't need/want much fat but lots of muscle strength.

So you see the food your feeding is doing what it's designed to, in that it's trimming Chloe up even more and helping her build muscle.

Of course this is a generic description... it's not going to work exactly like that for every dog... depends on there genetic makeup, breed and so forth.

I see what your saying :) Chloe has been on EVO since she was almost a year old and she will be 2 in November and her weight and "mass" were good.. about 6-7 months ago I switched her from regular EVO to EVO RM and she was doing (thought so anyway) well on it.. All of this seemed to take place starting about a month or so ago.. thats why at first I didnt even question the food because she has been on EVO/EVO RM for over a year and seemingly no problems until recently..

It would likely just be recently that people have notice you have a very trim dog.
As was pointed out though, people are so used to seeing obese dogs that they assume a dog who doesn't have fat rolls is underweight.

I agree that people perceptions regarding how much dogs should weigh are very swayed.

Having said that, a LOT of our local sport people have been very unsatisfied with EVO, and these are people who like their dogs slim. I've heard a lot about weights plummiting, and also about flagging energy. After a big influx of everyone using it, people seem to be stepping away.

Not sure what to suggest, since I don't know what is available near you. For a while I did about a 50/50 mix of Evo and regular Innova, and thought Meg did quite well on it; far better than on the straight Evo. But that isn't staying grain free.

Right now, I'm doing mostly raw with a little Orijen, and coat, body mass, and attitude are better than ever.

Maybe I can borrow some of Tosca's fur and make Chloe a floofie collie coat to wear lol
Tosca says you are welcome to her coat blow right now as we speak. God knows she sure is already sharing it with anybody who gets near her...

I would like to stay grain free if possible, but if I have to switch to something else then its not a problem..

Locally I can get all the Natura products, TWO, and Canidae...

I'd have to look around and see what else is available

well Riot has been on Fromm Duck and Potato, EVO RM, California Natural (Lamb puppy), Reg Innova Adult, Wolf Cub(Solid Gold), Wellness.

The one that actually KEEPS weight on him is the California Natural. Its the only one that has successfully kept his weight and allowed him to gain muscle and KEEP his original mass.
He current weighs in at 25kg and on the EVo RM he was weighing around 22kg(too light for him).

I know its not grain free - but it is still an awesome food. Everytime Riot has tried a different food his weight drops.

hes such HIGH energy and burns fat off so quickly lol Its the only thing that works for him - especially in swimming season when hes in the water just about every other day!
Same thing with Middie... he was doing perfectly fine for a month and a half and then I noticed he'd been slowly losing weight.... (not muscle, he only gained that)... because he started rapidly losing. :( I upped his intake to 3 cups a day and didn't stint on treats, but that's only gotten him to gain a tad bit.... so when the bag runs out (soon) he's getting switched.

Jess whats the reason behind wanting grain free?
Her coat is great, her poop is great, and has NEVER had a skin issue with it..

BUT...

It doesn't have to be, she hasn't really been on any other food, so I can't honestly state a reason, so I retract it...

When I first brought her home, she was on Pro-Plan, and I found this forum and learned about dog food, and I switch her to the regular Innova.. Then when she was around 10-11 months old I switched her to EVO..

That's really interesting. But I'm wondering, is EVO really so much different from grain-free raw? I know the company says that food is the basically the closest thing to raw. But I was under the impression that a lot of sport people feed raw and are happy with it. Any more of the sporting dog people care chime in?

You've got me. Like I said, I went from Evo (not happy) to Evo and Innova mixed (better), to raw with some Orijen (also grain free); the Evo was by far the least successful for us. I do know a lot of people who do raw with their sports dogs and do it successfully; no idea why the Evo doesn't seem to sit well with so many of them.

Ok I was reading on a sled dog forum I frequent... alot of people have had this problem with almost any of the higher protien etc. foods.

The result seems to be that feeding to much of a higher protien/fat food just pushes it very quickly through the system without giving proper time to digest.
Apparently if you actually feed less you'll see the dog start to gain a bit of weight.
So right now if you're feeding 3 cups a day, try going down to 2 cups a day for a couple weeks.

Some advice handed out regarding a different brand
High quality feed with large amounts of protein and fat will
get pushed right thru the animal without proper digestion if it is over fed.
If you cut back by 1/3 for 1 week I think you will see a difference.
You will also have less to clean up.
Not too many distributers will tell you to feed less of their product.

I feed my dogs Wellness canned and dry, and that is grain free. I don't have any problem keeping weight on my dogs, I have more of an issue keeping it off because my parents give them too many treats!

(Nolu, I don't think there is anywhere real close to you that sells Wellness, cause Petsmart and Petco don't sell it. I get it from a vet in Haymarket that is 12 minutes from my house. There is also Weber's Pet Supermarket that sells ONLY top brands of food, there is one off 29 in Fairfax and another one in Chantilly).

People do that ALL the time with our dogs too! We switched ours to eagle pack holistic large and giant breed puppy to hopefully get some weight on them but I also mix in canned and I mix in about a cup of boiled chicken and rice 3-4 times a week and they aren't gaining anything. Elwood has gotten a little thicker but Hannah is her same skinny minnie self!

I hate when people give me the additude like I'm abusing my dogs because they are around the proper weight they should be! People around here have 110 lb EXTREMELY OVERWEIGHT labs and then have the nerve to tell me my dog is TOO skinny. Sorry if I prefer my dogs to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without having to stop and take a nap halfway up!
