Leah could you post a pic of Ilsa or Ronin's feet so Anna can see?) But he is going to come up on his feet a LOT with a better diet.
Sure thing! I wish I could find a quick photo of a foster I had a few years back - her feet were horribly splayed due to malnutrition.

Here are some tootsie shots. This one shows how close together Ronin's toes are... and how short the toes are in general. Short toes lead to great cat feet!

This one shows his feet from the side - not th ebest, but it does show how "up" he is on his toes. Ignore the rear foot closest to the house though - he has a toe that was broken that didn't heal right, so it's not tight - it healed sticking straight out, poor guy!

More pretty cat feet...

Ilsa has longer toes, and pair that with age and you'll get flatter, less tight feet. Ilsa used to have VERY tight feet but they have relaxed over tha past few years.

Ilsa's feet, back when they were tight. She was about 18 months old in this photo.

Annnnd a more recent photo - getting older, her feet aren't as strong. I attribute this to the fact that she *is* gettign older, and she's a BIG girl so her size has not been kind to her feet. She still is faster and more agile than many dogs half her ae though!

WOW those are tight feet on Ilsa!! Sawyer's front feet are pretty loose, especially compared to Ilsa, but I guess herding breeds as a whole don't have much use for super-tight cat feet. They do look pretty though.

WOW, Ilsa has one DEEP chest! I still haven't fully gotten used to Doberman chests, lol! BCs have moderate chests but you don't really see them due to the fur.

I never noticed the difference between dog toes before. I think it may be my new obsession.

I love dog feet. I have an obsession with Eve's feet because they're just so **** perfect. Straight and ladylike. :D

Did I ever tell you about Spanky's obsession with Eve? I swear he's got the hots for her or something. When I was looking at pictures of her you posted he actually sat still, rested his head on my lap and watched the computer screen. Spanky never sits still. He's usually up to no good. I thought he may of been sick. But no. Close screen, off goes Spanky.

Could of possibly just been a rare moment of peace but I doubt it.

Awesome pictures sizzle, wow I never really noticed before they really are cat like, compared to zaphods pics I definetely see what RD meant about him being flat footed. Hmm I check my dogs feet for cuts and such but never paid attention to structure,...off to go examine their feet =)

You know Paige, Eve never looks at the computer screen (though if someone talks to her on the microphone, she'll cock her head and stare at the speakers) but Dakota does, and he can recognize photos of other Border Collies. It's wild.

Zaphod, too, has an interest in 2D objects and images. Yay! It's a quality I do like.. not a must, but I do sometimes wish that Eve would look at the TV screen while I'm veg'd out in front of it!

I haven't tried him on Ester-C, yet. Where can I get it, and how much will it cost me? Money is kinda tight unfortunately, I was saving for his neuter and leashes for everyone else.. but if the stuff is under $20 it's do-able.
Ester-C is available at a lot of different places. It's made for people, not for dogs. All it is is viatmin c, but it's a special kind that is very gentle on a dog's digestive tract. You should be able to find it for about $10 depending on the size of the bottle and brand. I buy mine at Trader Joe's...don't know if you have that in Arizona, but you could also find it at any grocery store, Costco, vitamin store etc.

I love dog feet.
I do too! I think that's part of what made me choose Dobermans. Their feet, especially with very short nails, are just heavenly! I love thick, tight dog toes, and Dobes have the best muffin feet evarrr!!!

And the chests... yes they take awhile to get used to! They look really funny when the dog is on its back - the chest juts up like a mountain! And yes, Ilsa has an extremely deep chest. Ronin's... could be deeper. I so wanted a manly chest on that boy, ah well.

LOL, weird as it sounds, Dobe feet are my favorite thing about their appearance. They're good looking dogs all around, but the feet are the loveliest part. :D

I like BC feet too, but I like their eyes more.

Poor Zaphod did NOT have fun today, he was introduced to the dremel again and now that his stubborn/scaredy dog side has emerged, he was not interested in cooperating.

He came to me with fairly short nails and I really want to keep them that way. *sigh* This should be funnnnn....

Oh HELL YES!!

Zaphod met Dakota today and I am very pleased to report that they get along GREAT. They only met on a walk (in the house is going to be a different story entirely, honestly I don't expect any harmony there and will likely do crate/confine and rotate for a few months) but Dakota was very polite and Zaphod had absolutely no desire to mount or dominate him. No aggression, no confrontation at all. They just ran around and sniffed.

So, yay! Hopefully we won't have a lot of male-male conflict with these two.

Eve still thinks he's an awful brute. lol

That's great! I'm so glad they got along... even if it was just on a walk.

He's looking so good, Grace. I can't believe the difference between when you first got him compared to now.

Oh, and I have to add that I'm just tickled with his response to strangers outside our property.

On our walk this evening, we encountered a jogger and a biker, and both stopped while I collected the dogs. Zaphod trotted right up to them and stopped about 3ft away. No growling or barking, no sudden movements... I expected him to be a little fearful or dodgy, but his body language is confident - ears, head and tail are very alert but not tense, and he doesn't back down when someone approaches him. He's not friendly by any means, but he's confident and I'm so pleased with that.

At home is a different story. He's way too reactive.
