New Golden Retriever, seeing eye dog

My vision has been declining as I get older and I just cant seem to get behind the idea of the new trendy laser surgery. A friend of mine who has been trying to rehome his dog told me that he would give me his Golden Retriever, to help me get around better. I am not big on the idea of trimming their coats but he said this one was trimmed for summer and I could have him for free. His name is Hank because Buckshot uses him for a handkerchief, I know this because he always seems to be wet. Here is some pictures that he had on his web site of my new dog.

Is this a joke?

Because first of all, the dog in those pictures isn't a golden retriever. The first indication is that he isn't golden. He also isn't shaved, he's naturally short-haired.... as are most pit bulls.

How to you plan to train your guide dog? What specific tasks will he do for you in public??

Sorry, I don't get it......

I guess I talk to too many people who want to train their dogs as assistance dogs, I take them all seriously now. And it's always annoying.

(Last week was the guy who wanted me to certify his shih tzu as a service dog because he was tired of paying to bring the dog on a plane.... when asked what the dog would do for him, he said she'd listen to his pacemaker and let him know when it stops.)

The joke being that the vision is so poor, he can't see that it's not a golden retriever.

It reminds me of this ~

A guy walks into a bar with a German shepherd dog. The bartender says, "Hey buddy, can't you read that sign? It says no dogs allowed! Get that mutt out of here!"

The man replies, "No, I can't read the sign--I'm blind, and this is my Seeing Eye dog." The bartender is embarrassed and gives the man a beer on the house.

Later that day, the man tells his friend about it: "I told him I was blind, and I got a free beer!" The friend then takes his dog into the bar and sits down.

The bartender says, "The sign says no dogs allowed! You'll have to leave!"

The friend says, "Sorry, I can't see the sign because I'm blind, and this is my Seeing Eye dog."

The bartender replies, "Since when do they give out Chihuahuas as Seeing Eye dogs?"

The man says, "They gave me a Chihuahua?"
