I have a highly allergenic dog she cannot eat chicken/turkey/beef. She cannot tolerate Canidae. The foods I can feed her are are Natures Variety Venison as it does not have any other protein source except lamb. But, Nature's variety has A LOT of ingredients...so if its an intolerance to other ingredients you would have to be careful.
I have also tried (with success so far) - Go! Natural Salmon & Oatmeal.
With great success - Holistic Blend - Lamb
With great success- California Naturals -Lamb - this is a great food for a break as it has very few ingredients.
You could also try a few home prepared meals as well. I give her sardines and brown/wild rice mixed with golash (veggies, yogurt etc. hemp oil, crushed flax seeds). It's always a good idea to add omega 3 fatty acids to the diet.
The Canidae does have the Turkey in it which if fed raw can cause gastric upset in some dogs. So I have read but I'm sure Mordy can comment if I'm wrong
My Rottweiler can handle raw turkey, but she will bloat on any kibble turkey foods. So far she has bloated on Innova, EVO, Canidae, Natures Variety - chicken/turkey. I have read that the raw is easier on the stomach, and this seem to be true with Athena. Raw turkey she never bloats. Of course, all dogs are different in what they tolerate.
