What does your vet think you should do to help her dry up?

*snort* many vets I have encountered are really quite useless with things like whelping and neonatal puppy care, dam care etc. Unless it is their specialty I'd really use caution and double check any advice they give. It's alarming how many vets have never actually whelped a litter themselves...let alone cared for one from day 1 thru going home time. Nothing stands in like experience...

So yes ask...but IMO a seasoned breeder is always a better person to ask in terms of reproduction. Esp this newer crop of vets being drilled into s/n everything. I wonder if soon they'll even bother with obstetrics!

Oh and Myra Savant Harris's books are A MUST HAVE for anyone who breeds, IMO. She also has a weblist, let me know if you want a linky!

my new vet i would trust a thousand percent. I think you should always check with your vet as a sounding board before you start something like this.
If you can't trust your vet's advice, it is best to look for a new vet.
I just hope she isn't having any mastitis concerns. Hope everyone is coping.:( It's a sad situation to be in.
