I was unable to give Rocky a visit today because of some things going on in my family, it seems Rocky isn't the only family member in the hospital. My father just had galdbladder stones removed so he asked if I stay home and take care of him, afcourse I would. The full blood screening results have come up from the Vet:

He had a Distemper IgM and a Distemper IgG shot done to him.
According to his vaccination list he WAS vaccinated for Distemper but if that was true, his IgM level would be low and his IgG level would be high. The good news is that both of these are low, so he has not been exposed to distemper. This can be one of three problems. The breeder lied, which isn't too common even in the worst breeders. They used one shot on two puppies, which is most likely the case here. They used cheap shots on the puppies, which isn't the case because he was given Vanguard Plus 5/CV by Pfizer which is the most expensive vaccine for Distemper, but before we rush to killing the breeder it can still be a little bit of a coincidence.

Rocky has malabsorption which means the nutrients and protein etc. isn't being sucked up through his intestinal lining, the cause of this is the fact that he hasn't been eating.

Rocky is anemic, he has a low red blood cell count but a high white blood cell count and his bone marrow and not working extra hard to produce new red blood cells. Not sure what might of been the cause of this but from what it seems Rocky is getting better and should be okay in a matter of time.

Rocky has low protein, this is 100% because of the fact that he hasn't been eating.

I'm giving the hospital a call right now to explain to them the situation. My hospital isn't as interested in my puppy as my vet is, he's actually a really nice man who took care of my pup and he calls me to ask about Rocky all the time. The hospital afcourse is extremely busy it's one of the best hospitals in the tri-boro area here.

I'll post some info in a few, thanks every one!

Things do seem like the pile up all at once. I hope your Dad's hospital stay is utterly uneventful and short and Rocky's is the same.

It sounds like you're getting good information from Rocky's doc. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Poor little guy! What a rough way to start life . . .

First off ..wishes for a speedy recovery to Father..that was no fun for him at all. I hope he is feeling better now. TAking care of him is a good son..i know cause i am a good daughter. and lastly i am glad you feel good about your vet. . My vet when i was a little girl took baby robins and bunnies from my hand and we tried..no matter what i brought in..he tried. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Once i found a box turtle on th e road, i stopped to move him over to safety when i caught a bad odor. It ws the smell of rot so i took him to the vet instead. we picked maggots out of a box turtle using a rib spreader to get to the wound. He only charged me my allowance, and never charged me for the wildones. His wife once told me if her husband ever brought home a snake from me..(i guess he took my guys home with him) she would have a talking with me. I didn't bring him snakes after that, but i loved him all the more. I shed a lot of tears in front of that man and he was my vet for oh about 30 yrs. I hope his retirement was just glorious because he so earned it. I have met a few more of them like that. I know of a vet that let his own's dog's collar grow into it's neck. I know this because his 8 yr old daughter told me mom found the dog like that and they had to cut it out of his skin. I wouldn't take that man a dog if he were my last hope. So u gotta make sure you believe in them.
Sorry you are having emotional turbulance in your life...I hope it gets better soon.

My dad is fine now, he's walking around already yelling at me :).

Rocky is eating like a horse but he still has a little cough. I should be taking him home soon, I want to keep him hospitalized as long as possible so that he gets better.

Seriously, a lot of people don't want a dog chewing on furniture and barking at everything. I am dying for that.

It's true what they say. You don't know what you've got till it's gone. I'm glad Rocky's coming back to you soon. I know you'll appreciate every minute you've got together!

The solid walnut dining room table that my first German Shepherd, Purdue, cut his teeth on is a treasured memory, lol! Of course, Mom didn't think it was all that funny at the time, but now she gets teary-eyed at the mention of those scarred walnut legs . . . ;)

that is what i told Jim (my deceased SO) about GArg (Mary's brother)...if you love the leather chair more than the puppy..then do the dog and u a favor and find him a real home..but if you love the puppy...i don't want to "hear" about your leather chair. I didn't have to hear him complain after that. I did tell Jim to invest in some bitter apple spray..it works well..i like the gel to put on electrical cords because the spray loses it's effect after a while but the gel doesn't.
