She was supposed to come with me for Thanksgiving, but I decided to let her stay with my parents instead. Despite me angrily delivering very specific rules they need to follow if they want to be responsible for her, they apparently chose not to listen. They know my dog better than I do, of course. So, they let her out in the morning, without clipping her to her tie-out, and she went for a nice romp in the woods. She is an absolute hardhead and will never show pain, so she came happily bouncing back in like nothing was wrong. She headed upstairs and flopped on my parents' bed, which is when they noticed the rather large amount of blood beginning to pool on their comforter.

I have no idea what she did, and neither do they. They both said they walked back through the woods and couldn't find anything she could have hurt herself on.

On her right hind leg, right below the knee, she ripped the skin off, and also tore some muscle for good measure. It's big. It's about 6 inches horizontally, then another 6 inches vertically. She actually just got the drains taken out.

I'm still pissed at my parents, but I feel so bad for her. I wish I had a magic 'Make It Better' button for her.

Omg poor girl. I hope she feels better soon. Ugh. This is why the thought of leaving my animals with anyone scares the crap out of me. Give her a hug from me. I love that dog.

Thanks, guys. She's perfected the art of woe-face for nearly 7 years now, and she most certainly looks pathetic now. I fully intend to buy her lots of tasty foods and fuzzy blankets (she loves blankets) to make her feel better. :p

I'll give her lots of hugs. She's so clingy right now, lol.

This is the exact reason I stress any time I leave her. I'm even more upset because she was supposed to come with me for Thanksgiving, and at the last minute plans changed and she ended up staying with them. And they chose not to follow simple directions. :(

:yikes: :yikes: Feel better, Rumor!

I'd be giving my parents the tongue-lashing of their life if they did that.

I saw this title and thought, oh, so the red pointy dog is actually acting like a DOG, then I opened the thread.

So sorry that Rumor is tore up. Poor baby girl. It's funny though, right when they get hurt, they never show it, but once they know that YOU know? THEN the "mama, I don't feel good" comes out.

Saga sends gentle snout pokes to her fellow pointy.

Oh, GODS. I would be SO FREAKING MORTALLY PISSED. Poor grrrl.

And you're never going to let them forget this, are you? :madgo:
I think pissed may even be an understatement. My mom knows they screwed up. She looked scared to even tell me, but that may have been because she could see the rage slowly building inside me. It will be a very long time before I'm not annoyed with them.

When I can think beyond just wanting to kill them, I probably will. I'm still mad to the point of having very little to say to them.

Your first sentence had me laughing. Some of my friends called her robot dog when we were visiting their house. Apparently she showed no emotion, never did anything bad, and did everything she was told. :p

She never acts hurt until someone has acknowledged that she's hurt. Then it's game on to guilt trip me into giving her as many treats as possible.

Rumor says thank you for the pointy pokes. <3

So sorry :( Hope she has a speedy recovery! My mom is watching our dogs next week... but I think I'm more worried about her than the dogs lol

Well, thank goodness she's going to be ok! Any chance she got onto a road?

The clinginess wears off . . .it takes a while.

Poor dear... I hope she heals up fast.

I would be beyond angry too. I always stress when I have to leave someone else in charge of my guys...
