Ok, so Kaylee is my garbage diving, counter surfing, let me see what I can get into dog. Even after a 5 mile run, and a mind stimulating training session she still wants to get into something.

But she loves to chew and she's really really good at it. She can go through a bully stick in just a little bit. Frozen kongs? Gone. RMB she loves and I love her having....but they keep her entertained for just a little while.

I don't have enough money to be feeding her chewing addiction so I need something that will last longer. I'm even just looking for maybe a day or two. Actually at this point I might even settle for a a few hours.

So far the best I've found are cow hooves and she honestly doesn't seem thrilled with them.

So right now I'm not even so interested in how good they are for her. I mean I don't want them to be dangerous and I don't want them to be pure corn sugar either. But highest quality isn't so high on my list. I've tried to be really conscientious of the quality of chews I give her, but they just don't last long enough for the price.

How are pressed rawhides? Nylabones?

I would love some of those treat dispensers they have to figure out but she can chew right threw them

So ideas?

Cow hooves are the only thing that last long around here. Though I don't give them as much cuz they smell. Tracheas take a few hours. The schnauzers and Lincoln can get through most stuff within a couple of hours.

Hooves really do stink don't they? Smell like burning rubber

Tracheaes take very little time for Kaylee, but she does love them

Another question. About 10 years ago I found an antler that I decided to keep because I had never seen one before. It's still floating around the house.

Is there a way I can clean it and give that to her?

Orson has this -----> Everlasting Fun Ball Treat Dispenser for Dogs / Size (Medium)
I don't remember if his is the large or the medium..........my guess would be his is large.

He has chewed right through a Kong after the peanut butter was gone. Pig ears and rawhides take him all of about 5 minutes to inhale.

That green "everlasting fun ball" he's had for well over a year without so much a a NICK out of the rubber! LOL I have no doubt if he set his mind to it, he could destroy it, but so far so good.

I cram 2-3 of his regular dog biscuits into it. He takes it and lays down to work it for quite awhile...........gets tired, goes off to do something else for a bit and comes back to it :)

I think I saw those on Leerburgs site, I'll have to get one of those then. Thanks!

Are they in Petsmart of Petco or are you better off ordering online or finding it at an independent petstore?

Antlers are a possible chew but I'm not sure how they need to be prepared if at all.
I wasn't sure if they should be cleaned first and if there was a certain way to clean them

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

I'm fairly certain we got Orson's at petco/petsmart.........I can't say which one for sure because they are a couple towns away and close to each other, so when I make the drive I hit BOTH, LOL

I do remember it was less than $10 so I figured we'd be wasting our money, LOL........I mean, he ATE the kong and I paid more for that than this thing! hahaha

I have the fire hydrant, and two of the orange Bento? ones by the Everlasting Treat peoples. The treats they sell go really quickly in them, and they get the treats out fairly fast.

Tug a Jugs only last maybe an hour halfway full... and I can't leave them out as the pups are chewing away at the rope on them. I need different treat dispensing toys lol

What kind of hooves? My guys don't care much about regular cow hooves but these are a huge hit and can even last a day!

Kaylee had that and ended up having explosive diarrhea and vomiting all over my room after eating it. I'm just not brave enough to feed one again. I got two and have had the other one sitting around my house for a year.

Glad your group loves them though!

I thought those double hoof things had bones and stuff in them that could be broken off and ingested? I don't know... I haven't been brave enough to try them.

My boys love hooves, too. I buy the largest, stuffed ones and those last for several days. When she gets the stuff out, you can always pack it with peanut butter/kibble/meat/pre-made raw and freeze it solid. :) I do that often. Mine also love pig noses that Merrick sells and they last a day or two. If I were you, I would grab one of every Merrick chew and see which last the longest for her. I buy this bag from the feed store, and I can't remember what it's called, but it has 5 lbs of random natural chews in there for like $30. It lasts forever! You should look out for bulk deals, as those are going to be a lot cheaper than paying for individuals.

If you do feel comfortable feeding rawhides and you supervise to make sure she chews them appropriately, rolled rawhides are pretty safe & long-lasting. Merrick sells some that I used to give to Fozzie when his teething was relentless.

Yeah, that double hoof thing ended bad. Lots of bone pieces breaking off and it was just not good. Maybe it was one in a milllion but I won't try them again.

I didn't get the stuffed hoof so I'll try those next time.
l
So those pig noses actually last? They look like they would be finished within minutes but I'll try them.

She gets rolled rawhide all the time, she can finish a foot long one is less than an hour if not taken away. That's why I was thinking about trying the pressed rawhide. I'm not a fan but I'm getting desperate.

I've never found stuff in bulk at stores except the rolled rawhide so I'll keep my eye out for other stuff

Tomorrow I'm going chew hunting so anymore suggestions and recomendations are very welcome.

Thanks for all the help!

Cow hooves (not those double hooves and bone things)
last months around here!

and we have a knuckle bone for a about 9 months to a year! my dogs chew on them all the time too. but they do not chew really hard.

you can get compressed raw hide too! they last a long time and are not nearly as dangerous as normal raw hides.

As far as compressed rawhides go, the longest lasting ones we have found are USA's Heavyweights line: Heavyweight Dog Bone and Heavyweights Retriever Roll

These usually last Harley about 12 hours of chewing time over a couple of sittings. They are also made in America unlike most rawhides which are often stripped with harsh chemicals.

For tough chew toys we have had luck with West Paw Design's Bumi and Hurley

Harley has had these for over a year and are good as new but from what I've heard they can be ripped up by really heavy chewers. They do offer a one time replacement guarantee however so they may be worth a shot.

Hope this helps!

I just get soup bones from the grocery store and boil the life out of them. I find if I leave the marrow in, my dogs get the runs. Cheap, last forever (nearly) and my dogs can't digest them. I stuff them sometimes with Peanut butter or cheese wiz or other goodies.

I used to do rawhide and hooves with my Blue Heeler. After a while those small hooves got pretty sharp edges (I stepped on a few) and I think it even broke one of his teeth. He used to tear off small pieces and eat the rawhide ones and I never thought that was a good thing.

Ok, so I was at Petsmart today and got that everlasting treat ball and so far so good. Hannah's actually more interested in it than Kaylee was but she's having fun so I'm happy.

I got a pack of two Dentley's six inch compressed rawhide. 15 minutes timed.

Now maybe it was because I got too small of one and not a great brand so if anyone knows please tell me.

Here's a picture of the one I got

Thanks a ton! Ill try those then, maybe they will work better

Those look fun! I think I'll try those too. I really like the curved one, think the dogs would have fun playing tug with those.

I'll try that, what size soup bone do you use and about how long do you boil them?

Thanks again for the help finding something that will keep Kaylee entertained and not eating my walls everyone!

I get the pretty large ones and boil them for an hour then cool them of course. You might also look at Knuckle bones also at the grocery store. They don't always have them out for sale, but if you ask the butcher, they usually have some in the back. 2 big bones are usually under $2.00 and could last months. You can't stuff those knuckles but it's a lot of diversion for big time chewers.
