Liver Disease?
Hi guys, recently my dog havent been eating and he seems to be non active. He looked very tired and sleeps most of the time(more than usual). I took my dog to the vet yesterday to see what was going on. I told him my situation about my dog. Currently my dog seems to whine/screams when he jumps onto my bed and hasnt been eating and not to active. She took his temperature and found him with a fever and said that might be a reason why he isn't eating. My vet starts to feel around to see what is going on and she finds a sore near his back area(feeling it from the intestine area going to the back). Then she tells me that it could be an infection because something does not feel right. She recommended to take a x-ray and we did. She also said to do a blood sample testing to see what is also going on. We took the x-ray and found that he has a swollen or infected area near his bad. She said it was bigger than usual and maybe that is why he screams/whine when he jumps up onto my bed. She told me to take these anti-botics to see if it would reduce the swollen. She also gave us options if this method doesnt work and it might lead to surgery. She said the surgery is necessary because if the swollen thing gets bigger, it will burst the pus out and it is very toxicating for the dog. And today my mom recieves a call from the vet to hear bad news from the blood sample. THe vet has said that my dog has liver diesease, i try to get my mom to say what is wrong with it, but she said all the vet said was that my dog has liver problems and it is serious.
I'm here worried and do not have a clue in what to do with my dog. A little description of my dog: hes a 3 year old siberian husky and a bit over weight. Tomorrow I am going ot take him to a specialist to do a ultra sound and after that to see what options we have. We have no clue what might cuase this. Im not sure if this will play in affect, but about last week my dog got to one of my scorpion display which he did eat one of them. I dont know what kind they were because it was a gift that i never paid attention to but i ignore it because i didnt think it would do any harm because it was 10+ years old.
Now I'm asking anyone with similar problems or has encounter liver problems with their dog and what they did or should do? Any suggestions will help. I will keep everyone on this forum posted. Thank you all.
