Ok I know not everyone celebrates Halloween, but I LOVE the holiday, and as such I like to come up with creative costumes.
So, let's hear some suggestions on costumes on here! For a little amusement and to add to the flair, I'll add my son's costume from last year.
I dubbed it "Dr. Death" :) make-up, etc was done by me. He wanted to be something scary, so I thought this was fitting.
So, let's help my boys be something really interesting again this year - we're going for the original costume award (we won last year) - I have a sewing machine so anything I can make a pattern for will work!
Things to keep in mind:
1. It's freaking cold here in October, so anything that will be big enough to stuff winter clothes under
2. Freedom of movement for small children (one being 2 years old, the other 5 years old - both are clumsy) and something they can wear regular tennis shoes with for comfort and accident prevention.
3. Original, vampires and ghosts are cool, but it's over-done.
So, people of Chazhound - INSPIRE ME!

LOVE the costume.

My kiddos wasn't anything special, Matthew was n "Alien Rapper" and Johnny was a fireman.

I got a fairy costume and did my hair up all pretty. Do you dress up too?

I didn't dress up last year, but I usually do.
I spent so much time on his last year that by the time I was done I didn't get around to doing mine so we could go trick or treating on time. Blah!
I'll probably dress up this year, we'll see though.

Bev is going to be either a fairy or a giraffe I havent decided yet. I am thinking of waiting for the fairy next year since it will look better and I wont have to try and carry a infant with wings. And she makes a awesome looking giraffe. I have the patterns for bunting costumes so all we are going to do is use it to do the extras and buy a fleece sleeper and dye it.

Millie was a bumlebee last year. As you can see, she wasn't all that thrilled. :p

I almost never dress my dogs up, except for Lucy in winter with a little sweater, but I had a terrible urge to make Millie a bee when I saw it. I'm so glad she isn't homicidal. :D

I have a feeling it would be me you are hinting at LMAO. Since Im the only one with a shepard and little one that I can think of. But thats not a bad idea the hat is the only thing that would be any trouble. I can make the rest.

I like the little red riding hood idea, too bad I have pit's and someone would probably attribute the bad rap they have to them eating children...**sigh**
I don't take my dog's out on Halloween either, I lock them up in the house because of all the weirdo's that do mean and cruel things to animals around that time of year.

I dont know WHAT Hannah is going to be yet. Depends on her walking skills lol. If she can walk a little bit then that changes everything. I saw a really cute "snow white" costume and minus the black hair... that is Hannah...s he is snow white just like her mommy lol.

I don't know... I can't decide lol. If I can find a cool costume I will more than willingly dress up :D I took my neices out one year and I was dressed as a nun lol... There weren't a lot of trick or treaters so all the people giving out candy insisted on giving me candy too LOL.

I can't decide what Hannah should be :D

If you can get a dog used to a plastic visor or hair clip over the ears , hats are no problems to make . They were the base of all of Bubba's head gear . ( note Bubba in pool with both glasses and visor in my siggy . He forgot that he even had them on ! )

Last time I dressed up, I went as a hockey player. Of course I didn't wear any protection... just one of my jerseys, the shell of the pants... 2 different socks, with one hanging down. I painted myself a bloody nose, a black'n blue eye and put some black stuff over one tooth. I loved it.

I know I posted these before... but this is what we did with the kids last year:

And T-Bone... also as a pumpkin (it was the only thing I found that fit over her chest). NOT happy at all.

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE halloween. I decorate like a month in advance because I get so excited. lol

I never have good costue ideas. I normally just go to value village/goodwill. Buy old clothes and through blood all over them, then just fake cut myself up with make up ect. basiclly Im just dead every year. But thats what its all about zombies, vampires ect I was never a fairy or a princess like my mom wanted me to be.

WAIT I WAS a princess a few years ago...But I was princess of death, I found a cool sword and a fake skull and put them together and bloodied myself up, and have my friend run my dress over to put tire marks on it lol.

OMG I cant WAIT until haloween

this year is sort of bittersweet.

I can't WAIT to take Hannah out... although we get to eat all her candy (bwa hahaha) but I will miss giving out candy to all the little ones in their sweet little costumes. that was my favourite part of halloween at my dads house when we gave out candy every year. All the wee ones came out early and they were SOOOO sweet. I will miss that... but it's worth it to share Hannah's first halloween.

She will only be out briefly so I'm sure we will get some candy to give out to the rest of the kids... and eat the left overs LOL. the dogs can enjoy the yard that night :)

Yikes Keyodie, I'd hardly have to dress up to do your costume, the black hair with gray streaks I've got already, just have to stop dying over the gray, LOL.
I was going to go as a failure terrorist, but living on a military base my hubby said someone might actually put a bullet in me for that with some of the mental problems some soldiers come back with, so I thought twice about it. Would have been easy considering I'm middle eastern though, so onto another plan because real bullet holes on Halloween just isn't fun!
I also don't know what to dress the baby up as, most tiny babies get dressed as a pumpkin or something, so that might be an option, at least it would be warm.
