Oh my. To be honest, I had to stop watching the video. I'm already an emotional wreck today and I just don't think I can handle seeing pictures of that sweet baby.

RIP Gage.

Petition signed.

Gage was a very beautiful boy. I'm really sorry for your loss. I so hope Gage gets justice on the 28th. I think you should consider suing this man. Nothing can compensate you for Gage's loss, but that sociopath has taken something very valuable from you and justice dictates that what he holds valuable should be taken from him and given to his victims (money - that is if he has any). God bless you. Please keep us posted as to how things turn out.

I wish y'all the best. (and this despite what's been brought out on another forum)

As for a civil suit, in Louisiana dogs are property and you must establish their worth as a piece of property. You are NOT allowed to factor in emotional damages and the like just like you can't sue for emotional damages if someone puts a dent in your car. As bad as some might think that is, it's best if it remains this way (us as property owners and not guardians).

As for this guy, I have no idea how it will turn out. The guy that shot my dog was sentenced to probation and community service along with fines and court cost fees. And he's also not allowed to own an animal for a 5-year period I believe. But he will never see another night in jail besides that initial one.

There May Be Hope

Have the owner contact the local television stations if he does not get any satisfaction from the courts. Many stations have "On You Side" segments.

Also have the owner contact the American Dog Owners' Association. They will offer him useful information and suggestions. The fact that the dog was a Pitbull makes this a "hate crime" in a sense. Also an anti-Pitbull action. And what about the laws of firing guns in a neighborhood??

I hope the fellow took a ton of shots showing where the dog was laying and the wounds. And I hope the jerk that did it enjoys a very hot humid climate, 'cause he will be spending a lot of time camping near the Lake of Fire!!!!!!!!!!!

There were alot of photos showing Gage "gone":( They took alot of pictures. Those are in the slideshow part of the petition but I warn it is very graphic)..The photos just speak 1,000 words alone. All one has to do is see the crime photos to see just how close Gage was to the "*(*& that shot him..
So..yes...these are definetely help...On the "law of firing guns in a neighborhood"..I honestly dont know if Shana has even thought anything about that..i will ask her when I talk to her tomorrow..She emailed me and said that she has alot of "information for me to hear"...I may not be able to post much about it..Precation so information isnt leaked prior to courtdate.

The link to those photos is:

CAUTION: PHOTO'S ARE VERY GRAPHIC

A firearms charge might vary. With my situation, the guy discharged a firearm in the middle of the street in the middle of a crowd. In fact, the firearms charge was the bigger of the 2 charges (that & animal cruelty).

However, discharging a firearm on property might vary. You just need to check the local laws.

However, if you had a good attorney, he/she would have already found this all out for you. If you don't have one, I strongly urge you get one.

I wish people could get stiffer punishments for this. RIP Gage... he was very beautiful and I'm so sorry for your loss.

And Mia, I never heard the final punishment, but that seems to hardly have been anything.

It's just so sad. :(

What a tragic story... I coulnd't stop thinking abouthow similar this story is to what happened to dear Miakoda.

Petition signed!

It's stories like these that make me want to work on an anti-BSL organization here in Iowa. IA is one of the most unfriendly states to pet owners.

How hearbreaking.... I was at the vet's office a few weeks back, and a woman was out in the lobby bawling because her foster pit bull had been shot in her own backyard-- while she was outside in a different part of the yard. It's just ridiculous.

I feel for Gage's family. He was obviously a well-respected and loved member of the family.

Oh, by the way, if the fence is a line fence, it will be difficult for the neighbor to dispute the line if the fence has been there for any amount of time.

It will also be difficult for him to get any attorney worth a flip to take a boundary case unless he's got some good data to support it. They're a pain in the butt and incredibly expensive. His criminal defense attorney may be trying to use the boundary dispute as a justification for the shooting, but that's a flimsy case at best.
