...and that might have been one of the most gorgeous dogs I have EVER seen. The tail was really thick, and kind of curled a little at the top. I don't normally like the look of rotties very much, but with the tail, they look stunning to me! Too bad you can't show tailed ones. I mean, it's not like they have thin, breakable tails like boxers and dobermans.

I've met one with a tail too, pretty dog! His tail wasn't fragile at all either. Curled a bit too ;)

I also love boxers with full tails, I think they look weird without them now.

Docking is illegal here and there is a lovley rotti in my area with a full tail. I saw him up close the other day, his owners do so well with him. He's completley neutral with strangers, interetsed in Buster if Buster's squealing and pulling towarxds him but thats all.
SO shiny and all sinewy lean muscle. He's gorgeous

They look interesting to me. I don't know what it is, but the stance of a Rottweiler with a tail seems much different than that of a docked Rottie. Same with Dobes and Boxers really.

All dogs are beautiful.

The law is a bit woolly but it's generally illegal to dock tails here in the UK now.
Over the years (when it wasn't illegal) it had become more acceptable to have undocked tails. Jack was 13 and had an undocked tail and I've got to admit I preferred his tail to docked tails

I think Rotties look great with a tail. Well, rotties with good tails look great.

I still prefer a docked/cropped dobe.

Wow, I must not get out much...I've never seen a rottie with a tail before:rolleyes:

Gorgeous dogs! Though I must admit, they've always been my favorite breed, tail or no tail:D

Rotties with tails are cool looking. I also like them with docked tails, as well.
I still like a docked/cropped dobe and a docked Boxer.

I'm the AKC I'm not shure if is possible, but in the FCI you can ;) just check the standar in the FCI page , actully they are planning on NOT allowing docked dogs in the ring in the future.

Whit a tail they remind me of a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog :D whitout the white markings, of course.

Having docked Rotties, its very hard to see them with a tail.

Plus, as far as being able to show them with a tail in the states, there is no standard to judge the tail by, so there for how do you know if its correct, incorrect, ect.

Eh, I love my docked rotts

They had an undocked Rottie at the national in the champion challenge, I'd say only about 1/3 of the spectators actualy knew what breed it was. However the Rottie club of america has made quite a few statements that the Rottie is a Docked breed and will remain as such, and they have given permission for judges to dissqualify undocked dogs.

Here's a quote from the breed standard
Tail--Tail docked short, close to body, leaving one or two tail vertebrae.
They have made it very clear that they don't plan on changing that any time soon.

Sunnierhawk0- the way I've seen them judge the undocked tails out of the US is to just imagine that they aren't there; many handlers will even hold there hand over the correct place for the tail to be docked, so it's as if the rest of the tail isn't there. There's no consideration for the tail since there's no standard for what is correct.

And just incase anyone was wondering about the uncroped ears, the handlers often hold them up to give the same appearence as if they were croped.

I think it should all be a personal choice and its nice to see a judge who still puts up a rottie with a tail if tis a good specimin. I dont like seing them loose just because they have a tail.

I'm in total agreement!

Until I actually see a dog that's goes through being docked/cropped at least. And I mean before, right after, and the following days after the procedure. i'd see the procedure if I could. Only then could I really decide if I didn't like it enough to think it should be banned, or still think it's a personal opinion.

Though I think Rotties look much better with tails, but that's my personal opinion lol
