Jax and Peyton are getting along extremely well now. It took a few days for them to sort it all out, but I could not have asked for a better match.

Jax loves to play with Peyton, he does not play with any other dogs which I think is interesting. They drink out of the same water bowl at the same time, food is not an issue now, even soup bones or Peyton prize toys. Peyton encourages Jax to play tug of war "with" her toys. Peyton has brought out the puppy in Jax and Jax trusts Peyton more than me. Jax is still far from settled in but between the two of them, it's working out very well.

I can't really say one dog is dominant over the other, but if I had to guess, Peyton is still alpha but it seems so slight most of the time it's hard to tell. It's almost as they treat each other as equals. "Jax and Peyton, sittin' in a tree, K I S S I N G" at the end of week 3.

They seem to have a certain respect for one another. Maybe that's what we saw in the first meeting video. It's actually not much different today, except at play time. I train them together, walk them together, car rides together and play with them together.

I make sure Peyton knows she is equally loved and I never leave her out of anything. Equal head pets and belly rubs all around and I go out of my way to make that happen and make sure they both see it and know it. Peyton has always been possessive around other dogs, I'm just not seeing that with Jax for some reason and I'm not sure why.

Peyton has always been jealous of me petting another dog. She hasn't lost that entirely but I have seen her on several occasions just turn and walk away when I was petting Jax. I had never seen that before from Peyton with any other dog.

Peyton is a rough player, Jax is giving her back as good as he gets. Both dogs have sopping wet cheeks from chewing on each other at play time. Jax likes to jump off the couch and onto Peytons back. Peyton can't get enough of it, they play well together, even rough house and both know when it's time to stop. It's working out very well for all.
