I see a couple of different breeds, but your pup is also still pretty young from the looks of it and is going to get pretty big. There seems to be a heavy lab influence in the face (mostly muzzle and ears), the coloring could be AmBull or ABPT but those feet look awfully big to me!

I don't have to agree with an opinion, this is true. I could say that, in my opinion, that dog looks like a husky mix. I would be wrong.

Opinions can't be wrong. We had a Dachshund/Poodle mix who didn't look like either. This dog looked like a poorly bred Silky Terrier. If someone said "I think that dog looks like a Dachshund mix"..it doesn't mean they are wrong.

I have seen dogs that have gotten those DNA tests done...and the craziest breeds popped up that you would never of thought in a million years that dog had in it!

DNA tests are also inherently flawed, as we've seen with Buddy'sParents dog, Buddy, who is apparently a Giant Shorthair Maltese instead of the pointer/dane/whatever he actually is.

And yes, opinions can be wrong. Or at least based on misinformation, which is about the same as being wrong.

Let's get this thread back on track though. Apologies to the OP.

But in this case, I don't think the opinion of him being an amstaff, or American Bulldog is wrong at all. he COULD be any of those. Its not completely far fetched like if I were to say he looks like a poodle to me...that would clearly be wrong, but nobody has said anything that was clearly wrong.

I'm not disagreeing with AmStaff or AmBull or AB/mix. What I am disagreeing with is the statement that that dog is a "pure" ABPT.

To me he looks like he has too much loose skin and jowls to be pure pitbull. A lot of the "poorly bred" pitbulls aren't pure pit bull terrier anyway, they're got different mastiff types bred into them to increase size and whatnot so essentially they're just mixes.

I think that american bulldog is definitely one of the breeds in him, it's hard to know what else there could be. He is gorgeous though! You are doing a really great job raising him.

What is his name? We need to see more pictures!:)

I think Lab (or Lab mix? Boxer thrown into the mix perhaps?)/American Bulldog is a very plausable guess. His face isn't heavily done like most Bulldog types - it looks more Retriever like to me.

Speaking of those DNA tests, How much are they & who does them? Oddly enought though, Ive had more people stop me when im walking Buddy & comment that he's ABD, Or at least he has some in him. Ive had a vet tech swear up and down that hes APBT. IMO, He's way too big for that.

Definitely American Bulldog. Might have a little bit of something else in it but I don't know, could be purebred.

ok, here is my opinion. ;) :p

I don't see a purebred APBT. First of all, I think that 55 lbs at this age is too big to be an APBT. Could be an APBT/AB cross, or APBT/Lab, or AB/Lab.

Whatever he is, he is pretty darn cute!!

:D
